I am pregnant with my second baby who is due on July 5th. I have a nanny who waches my daughter. At the time of delivery my daughter will be about 2.5. Do you give the nanny a raise for taking care of 2??
If yes, how much?

I already pay 15 per hour

What can I do next?

Definately. I would think $5.00 an hour more would be standard. I'm not sure but since she is taking on double the work than I think $5.00 fair. You could call a nanny placing agency in your area and just ask how much they charge for two children. If you really like this nanny I'm sure you would hate to loose her over a few dollars.

YES. And, infants usually cost more. Keep that in mind.
It is not a 2 for the price of 1 deal. That would not be fair.

If you are happy with your Nanny and she is good and reliable and responsible and good with your child(ren), then you DO increase her pay. If you do not, she or any Nanny/babysitter, would feel taken advantage of. So if you want to keep her... it is only proper to increase her wage.

All the best,
Susan

I say yes. Another child is more work which equals more money. The amount would be up to the two of you to figure out. I know some nannys have a fee and then add two dollars for any extra kids. So that would be $17 an hour for her. but you should talk to her and see what she thinks is fair.

you'll probably end up paying her 20 dollars and hour. or if she's just mother's helper, and you're around the entire time, then you can ask her to continue helping you with the toddler only.
but yes more money for the nanny.

If your nanny will be watching/taking care of the infant in any way then yes. I know that taking care of an infant usually cost more but you are already paying a good hourly rate. With that I would talk with your nanny let her know what you expect her to do with the second one (depends if you are home or away and want full care, partical care) and talk about the new rate... for the rate going up $2-$5 would be recommeneded. So paying $17-$20 an hour would be apporiate, if you do not want to lose her be ready to pay $20 an hour because that is what I made for two kids (infant and 3 year old).
