Ok so I have never had my nails grown very long before and now they finally are. Yeah me!!! So the question is...what do some of you moms that have natural nails do to make then harder and more resistant to breaks and tears. My nails are pretty thin and I used to be a nail biter. I got my first manicure about 3 weeks ago and I have not bite them since. Weird I know. So some clear polish that is DIAMOND STRENGTH NAILS that I use daily but is there a vitamin that helps or something else that you could recommend.

What can I do next?

I noticed that when I started taking a better multivitamin my nails and hair grew healthier. My nails tend to peel as well. I take the Vitality Pack, from Vitality for Life brand. It is actually formulated to be absorbed by your body more like nature. So you actually absorb more of the nutrients than OneaDay and Centrum. Almost 75% more actually! It has made all the difference. I used to use a nail strengthener before. I don't remember what it was called. It had a green box that the polish came in and it would really protect my nails.
Congrats on growing them :)

I started taking Evening Primrose Oil to ease PMS symptoms, but an added bonus was that it also made my nails thicker! My nails grow fast, but have always been paper thin--they would tear and break and peel. It takes a couple of months of taking EPO before you notice a difference.

pretnatal vitamins work great! :) But, also if you can afford it, I would get a manicure each week or two... just the basic massage, trim, and paint. I usually do the french tips and that always makes my nails stronger. (I too have thin nails.)

My nails are very thin and I have always had problems growing them out. I tried vitamins but that also didn't do much for them. I like Nail Tek. Its a nail strengthener that actually works. You may have to jump online to find a local salon that carries it. I think most nail salons and some hair salons carry it.
