Mucus in Toddlers Stool

Have any of you experienced mucus in your childs stool? My daughter is 16 months old and I have noticed it in her diaper about 4 or 5 times within a week. I didn't know if it was the cereal or just the mucus that helps with digestion.
Hoping you all could help.
Thanks!

She might be teething. "Teething Poo" is usually mucusy and has a strange smell. Sometimes it is mistaken for diarrhea. I think it comes from drooling a lot when the teeth come in.

Hi,
I have never known of this happening unless there was some sort of digestive sensitivity or food allergy or sensitivity. I know of some great practitioners who can test for sensitivities without needle testing. Let me know if you want some referrals.
Blessings,
K.

I was told this can also happen when the lining of the stomach is irritated.
Has she had an upset tummy or allergies?
Might want to check with your pediatrician.

My son had this and it was food allergies. Not to scare you, but it can also be a sign of CF. Check with your pediatrician to be sure! It's probably just something in her diet that's irritating her digestive tract.

Hello, you don't mention if your baby has congestion or not.
It is very common for babies to expel their phlem thru their poop. If your baby does not have congestion then I would call his/her Pediatrician and see if this symptoms are normal.

Good luck,

It is often a sign of food allergies. You might want to watch her diet and see if you can pin point what it might be. I have then and my kids have them. That is what happens to us. Hope that helps.

If she has a runny nose, any drainage down the throat, or is teething (swallowing a lot of drool), then you will notice it in the stool.

If she's had a cold, I wouldn't worry much unless there is just tons of it. If she's been healthy, I'd call the nurses line. There can be various things that cause that (other than drainage) and the doctors want to know about it.
