Well my last post was asking questions about having my Mirena removed and now this post is asking about the morning after pill. Yes, I am a little embarrassed.

Has anyone ever taken the pill? How did it make you feel? Did you have any side effects?

I really don't want to explain what happened, it was not anything bad, it was consentual between me and my husband. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of your input. I did get the pill last night from Walgreens. I did take it within 24 hours. I was concerned about any side effects. I have a big project going on at work and I didn't want to get sick or be unable to come to work. I haven't had any effects at all from the pill. Thank you again for your comments!

I have taken it a couple of times of the years for various reasons. Basically, it is a high dose birth control pill. I think it has made me nauseous a few times, like sporadically, but it went away pretty quickly.

It is not an abortion pill, I would not take that, but it does stop implantation if it hasn't already occurred. The thing is that the sooner you take it, the more effective it is.

Really, each person will probably react differently, but it shouldn't be that bad unless you really react to bc pills.

No, I have not taken the Morning After Pill.

If you have questions about it? Ask your pharmacist. They will be your best bet in answering what to expect as well as each body is different and will respond differently to the chemicals in the pill.

The Morning After Pill (or Plan B) is a backup "plan" that helps prevent pregnancy from happening after unprotected sex or birth control failure. It does NOT cause an abortion. it is SUPPOSED to stop the egg from being fertilized.

It is NOT to be used on a regular basis. You can take it up to 72 hours after sex. If you have any problems taking birth control - you need to let the pharmacist know as well. Plan B pill contains a HIGH DOSE of levonorgestrel.

Hope that information helps.

If you want to use Plan B, hopefully you've already gone to the pharmacy and taken the pill.

Plan B only works to PREVENT pregnancy it won't make you UNpregnant if you're already pregnant, so time is of the essence. It CAN work for up to 72 hours, but it all depends on where you are in your cycle. Once the fertilized egg implants, Plan B can't help you.

Plan B is exactly the same medication as a daily birth control pill, but in a HUGE dose. Rather than control ovulation by maintaining a hormone level that stops your natural cycle, it's a giant rush of estrogen to interrupt your current cycle. It will likely make you feel kind of crappy and PMSy.

I really hope you didn't wait to get input from this site before you went to the pharmacy to get what you needed!

If you are talking about Plan B, it is not an abortive pill. It prevents you from releasing an egg, just like birth control would. But it cannot stop implantation and it doesn't harm an already implanted embryo.

If you are talking about mifepristone (Mifeprex) then it is an abortive pill.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. But I hate to see misinformation go out as true.

In respnse to Penny, it may or may not be abortive. The person taking it may not even be pregnant. It is "just in case".

Well, the morning after pill is not birth control. It can be a chemical abortive pill. You need to understand that before taking it, and be okay with that decision.
It will make possibly make you quite nauseated, and can also cause some cramping and possibly heavier than normal bleeding for that period.
You may also have no side effects.
It can prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. I don't know when your babies became babies, mamas, but mine became babies at conception. As a Catholic, that is my belief.
