Hello moms, another question about teeth. My daughter is getting her teeth fast, she has three of her molers, I have been waiting for the fourth it seems to be taking longer than the others. Anyways, I looked in her mouth today and saw a blue spot like a bruse, where her moler should be. What does that mean, I called her Doc, and the nurse said that she might have brused it on a theething toy, but it looks kinda wierd, My mom said that the tooth might not have formed right or something. Has anyone else gone through this, should I be concerned??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much to all of you who have responded, you all eased my worries. The blue spot has gone away, and now I do see the moler about to come through!!

My daughter had this same thing when two of her molars came through. We took her to the dentist. He was great and just said that is was a blood vessel that was above the tooth and so it was pushed to the surface. He said it may be a little painful, but would solve itself in a couple days. We used some orajel and tylenol for a couple of days and the blueish spot went away to reveal the molar that was just fine!

Hi B.,

Sometimes teeth, especially molars will look like that. It's all part of the teething process and not due to bruising on a teething toy. It'll go away and the tooth will look fine. I remember my children's teeth looking just like that. Warmly, S.

My son had bruising issues with his front tooth. It was nothing to be concerned about, and it came in just fine. It took way longer to break through than the others and stretched his gum a bit, which caused the bruising. It would look black or purple on some days which scared me, but it didn't seem to bother him much. Our doctor recommended pushing on the gums to help him cut through, but that seemed to bother him, so we just let nature take its course.

Last month my daughter had a blue/green dot in her gum so I started to google blue spot on gum,If I remember correctly it was something about blood circulation..it was something that was fairly common and wasnt a big deal, you may want to call a pediatric dentise just to ease your mind.If youre in the Kentwood area we go to Dr Amy Valleau she is great. Our problem just ended up being she had food stuck in her gums so somehow it turned into a blue dot, she got it out without any crying. :-)
Good luck and Im sure everything will be fine.

Hi B.,

My daughter hasn't gotten her molars yet, but I have done some reading on it previously. I read that when molars come in little pockets of blood can form above the tooth and then 'pop' when the tooth pushes through. They are such a large tooth with a large surface that this can happen. My guess would be that is what you see. However, it never hurts to call your dentist and ask.
