I am a mom of 21 month old fraternal twin boys looking to interact with a parent that has twins and can give friendly advice about how to handle parenting the same age toddler and if certain things are normal? The oldest of the 2 was fine at birth however the smallest one I called my sick baby spent over a week in the NICU and then had to have a blood tranfusion after 5 weeks old ,now he is perfectly fine however They did not have a chance to bond like most twins do?

H.,

I'm also a mom of b/g twins that are 30 months old. They were both 31 weekers and spent a combined 6 weeks in the NICU. I would say that even though they were not in the same bed, but close to one another in the NICU, they did form that bond. Maybe because they have co-bed since birth and still do now. I live in Pensacola, FL and you are more than welcome to write me at ____@____.com

Just out of curiousity...why do you say they didn't have a chance to bond like most twins???

Our pediatrician is from the "old school" and sees lot of twins and he said that "twins have their own set of rules" when it comes to growing up. Ashleigh & Austin are 30 months and she is bigger and more advanced than he is. Not that it is a problem, boys just tend to be slower at things. But when he catches up to watch she has been doing watch out!!! He does it in leaps and bounds.

Hope we can talk about our little ones!

God Bless your heart for taking on the role to your fiances children...I'm sure it has been an adventure, but worth every minute of it! :)

Take care,
God Bless,
J. D

H., all I can say is WOW! No, really, all I can say is WOW! Wish I had some advice for you (I'm sure you have gotten plenty though) but I only have two children and wish I could find a way to free up some "me" time. So if anything I'm at least going to congratulate you on your victory of taking care of so many children and still having your hair and sanity. Hope you find the answers you are looking for, sorry they won't be from me.:)

Hi I do not have twins. But my mother had 2 sets of twins - many mnay years ago. I know that my one sister was sick as well and had to remain in the hospital for several weeks while my mom and other sister went home. Althought we joke about it, I think it affected my sister - becuase she says my mother never visited her. (My Mom says she was busy taking care of the other sister).
Anyway, there is a lot of jealousy and resentment between the two (they are 51 years old!).

My brothers are a different story. They barely speak -- not because of animosity - because they have absolutely nothing in common. One is a phd and gay and the other is an alcoholic and doesn't work. (welcome to my dysfunctional world)

I hope you get some answers - but if not, let me know. i'd be glad to talk to my Mom and get some more feedback for you.

K.

Hi H.,
My name is S. C and i live in Brunswick GA. I am also a mother of 4 yr old fraternal twins (boy/girl). My twins were 8 weeks early and were both in the Nicu for 2 months. So they also didnt get that twin bond. Mine started bonding at around 2 yrs old. When they were more independent. They play all the time with each other even if there are other kids around. Dont worry the bond will come. Its so cute when it does.
I hope that helps.
Let me know if you have any other questions. We can compare notes.
S. C
