J.:

I had a nice hair cut yesterday at SALON DE MONTICELLO, the hairstylist is a lady from my church (Arapaho Road Baptist Church), and she really did a great job. She charges around 25.00

They attend only by appointment. It is in Downtown Garland. Phone ###-###-####.

Changing subject...is your MDO program going to have a summer school...??? I need to enroll my baby for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Thanks,

E.

Hi J.,
I've been using this guy named Bryant for about a year now who used to own and run his own salon (sort of got burned out) and is now working an accountant job. He does hair out of his home in the evenings and is great and really reasonable.
I usually get out of there with a cut and highlights for about $55. (Cuts are $15)
He does live near Oak Lawn. But I don't mind driving there since it's usually in the evening, I'm not in a big rush and my husband is watching the kids. It's nice because you're the only person he's focused on (not like a typical salon where there's lots going on).

He's also good at doing cuts and colors that last a while (so you don't have to go back often). He would rather do that than have you go around looking bad :-)

I can send you his name & number if you're interested.
Good luck!

J.

My girlfriends and I all go to Nailstar in Plano. It is around Parker and 75 (across from Target). She is great. I forgot her name but it is always the same person cutting hair. She charges $15 for a cut. It is additional if you want it blown out. They do nails and massages also so you can have a full day of pampering if you want. It is the only place up here that I found that has inexpensive cuts that consistently does a good job. Hope this helps.

Hi, J..
My mother lives at Primrose Park Villas on John West between Buckner and LaPrada. This is affordable senior living and they have a woman who comes in on certain days and uses their little salon facility to give hair cuts, styles, sets, etc. for the people who live there. But, she also has some of her personal clients that can get theirs done at that location as well. The complex does not charge her for using their facility because it's a perk for the people who live there, so she doesn't charge very much. My mom has been very pleased with her. I forget her name but this woman also does hair at a salon on Garland Road near the Arboretum.
