I am trying to help a friend come up with good foods to pack for her 3 year olds lunch. She is in childcare and they don't heat anything for their meals. Any good ideas?

What can I do next?

I am just having to do this as well. My daughter's Preschool does NOT allow peanut products, so that has been an extra challenge. I am sending Gogurt, fresh cut up fruit, applesauce cups, chex mix, goldfish crakers, then cheese & crackers, and toddler Lunchable snack packs.

i agree with the postings that are here. just be careful with the lunchables... they are the absolutely worst meal for a kid. you can do the apples and cheese and be safe, but the ones with meat and crackers have a ton of preservatives and fat. always look at the nutrition label if you are wanting a meal in a box.

take care.

Hi M.,
I still think peanut butter and jelly is one of the best options! Or, turkey sandwich, piece of fresh fruit, a cookie and teddy grahams. I think if you get too fancy it will end up in the trash. That said......a little of whatever is left over from dinner works well too. I put one of those little ice packs in the lunch box to keep the lunch fresh. Just be sure the 3 year old knows not to throw that away.....
Fyi: peanut butter and jelly is still my favorite lunch.
