Lost IUD

I found out Wed when I went to the dr. to get my iud out that they couldn't find it. I went through three sets of tongs, an outside sono and two internal sonos and they still couldn't find it. They then sent me to the hospital to have an x-ray. Thursday the dr called and said that the x-ray found it and it's not even in the area that it is suposed to be anymore. I have to have surgery to have it out. This all came about because hubby and I are talkig about number 2. I am on Yaz right now and I have been for a few months. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and if we will have problems down the road. The dr also said that I have some calcium build ups as well. Any thoughts or advice would be nice. I'm also going through nerve blocks every thursday to help with my RSD.

A bit more background, I have the IUD put in just over a year ago and when they put it in they left the strings long and when I went back and had it checked the strings were short. I guess with some of the reading i've been doing says that I shouldn't have gotten one in the first place because I have a tiped uterus. I didn't find this out until I went to have my son. Something that I would of thought would be important. I'm calling the dr later today and will let you all know what I find out.

So What Happened?

Ok, I went in this morning and had it out. It was sitting up in my pelvis where the x-ray showed and he said that all went good. He also said that this happens for one of two reasons, when they put the iud in the often puncture the wall of the uterus and he said that it happens more than they know. The other thing that could have happened was it migrated up and out through a crack which sometimes appear when the lining is shed. I go back next week and I will let you know more then.

Please be very cautious and wise! I have an IUD and it sounds like it may not have been put in the right way. I love it because, afterawhile, you can hardly feel it inside your body. However, proper insertion is extremely important. The first doctor inserted it wrong, the second doctor inserted it perfectly withing 5 minutes. I would get a second doctor's opinion, if possible. Also, if you and your spouse are considering another child, make sure you see if you need treatments. Because some nutrient levels are low after the first and second baby.

Best Wishes,
D.

Although I didn't have the specific issue, I would highly recommend at least two more opinions from doctors outside of this practice. If nothing else, you will know you did your due diligence and have the peace of mind. Best of luck to you!
