My husband is interested in moving from our home in Keller, and he has really been showing a lot of interest in Lantana (a master planned community in the Argyle/Denton area). Does anyone have any experience good or bad with this community, especially in regard to schools, traffic, amenities, and area shopping/eating, etc., and cost of living?

My husband has had some dealings with Lantana (he's a real estate agent) and we are actually considering moving there next fall thanks to all we have learned. You can contact him for details on all you described at ###-###-#### (his name is Mike).
I know taxes are high there but the community feel is awesome!
Good luck!

I live in Lantana and love it. Lantana is a Fresh Water Supply District (I can explain it if you're really interested) which means our taxes are a bit higher than surrounding neighborhoods. We are comprised of many smaller neighborhoods and each one is different. Some have smaller lots with the houses closer together or you have some with larger houses, larger lots such as the one I'm in. If you're seriously considering coming out here you'll definitely find a house that fits you and your budget.

The schools are in Denton ISD which has positives and negatives. In Lantana we have one elementary school and for the 2008 school year a new elementary and middle school will be open. I've heard positive things about the elementary school thats currently open but I don't know too much about the reputation of other schools in the district.

For entertainment/shopping/eating we can go anywhere. Highland Village, Flower Mound, Denton, Lewisville, or down to Southlake. We are close to lots of shopping at the corner of 2499 and 407.

As for traffic, yes we have it. Lots of people here in Lantana combined with Highland Village to the east with roads that are still 2 lanes. However they are in the process of widening 2499 which will help tremendously.

Amenities in Lantana are fantastic. Besides what is obvious to those who look here, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds and 2 fitness centers our HOA hosts many events thru the year for residents.

All in all we love being here in Lantana and see ourselves here for quite awhile. Feel free to send me an message if you have any more questions.

I had friends move from Flower Mound to Lantana and they are sorry they moved. First, the schools are not as good, and they are sending their kids to a private school and I think they told me they had to pay higher taxes... something about an infastructure tax? And they have very strict rules on what they can do with their landscape. I can't remember all they said. However, there house is lovely and all the people I have met from there are very nice.

But I would go with what is known.... Highland Village is great and the other poster is correct about LISD schools, they are fantastic.

We almost moved to Lantana this past summer. Our agent had nothing but great things to say about the community. Our only problem with Lantana was that the back yards were so small and the properties were so close together. We ended up moving to Highland Village and we are so happy with our choice. We were able to buy a house with a bigger lot and we got our own pool as opposed to moving to an area with a community pool. We moved from the Keller area too and I have to say the LISD school district is WAY better than Keller ISD.
