Looking for a Rug Cleaner

Hi all,

I have a 5x7 wool rug that I need to have professionally cleaned. I called one place and they quoted me between $75-$250. YIKES! Can anyone recommend a place that would do it for cheap near Irvine? I'd be happy to take the rug into a cleaner rather than have a house call - but I'll take whatever as long as it's cheap and won't ruin my rug.

What can I do next?

Wool rugs do need special care. Rugs Plus in Fountain Valley did my 8 x 10 for about $85. I had to drop it off there, (Euclid near the 405), and pick it up. If it is a valuable rug - don't go cheap - a ruined or warped rug isn't worth it!

Hi J. :)

We live in Laguna Niguel and recently had our entire house cleaned by a company called Renew. The carpets were hideous as I have 2 young children. When they were finished, it looked like I had replaced all my carpeting with brand new ones. I was amazed. I don't believe they use chemicals and whatever their process is is also very gentle. They also did treat my area rugs and that was wonderful. They will also do upholstery, which I intend to have done soon. Their number is ###-###-#### - Office / (866) 420-8871 - Toll Free.

Best wishes~
J.

Hi J.,

My Husband and I have had a similar problem. After sending the rug to a professional for cleaning the rugs would come back in a similar condition. The chemical smell was terrible and the color of the rug was darker and dinger than when it was sent in. We asked our neighbor what he was doing with his OH SO CLEAN wool Persian rugs. We were amazed by his response. This is what you will need. One bottle of woolite or resolve a hose, a cleaned off patio, concrete area or drive way. Place the rug on the clean area and hose down with cold water. Spray rug with the woollite or resolve rug cleaner. Use a brush or broom and scrub away. Smart and final has a brush on a broom handle that works wonders. Spot clean any stubborn areas first. After a good scrubbing rinse with the hose, repeat as needed. Hang over patio chairs or fence to dry.

Our Persian rugs are sparkling clean every time.

Happy scrubbing!
With Every Best Wish!
