Hi Moms, my husband and I are planning are planning an evening out with friends to celebrate our birthdays. Someone suggested Loft 610 and I was wondering if you have ever been. I want to go somewhere fun and nice, but I'm not into the club scene. If you have any suggestions please give me your opinion. We live in Plano but can travel as long as it's not too far.

What can I do next?

Don't forget the new area at Bethany and 75 in Allen. There are several restaurants to choose from and it's a fun atmosphere without being "clubby". I know they have a wine bar and other cool places to go.

We are regulars at Loft 610. They have a restaurant upstairs that is very nice. We have only eaten downstairs at the bar area because we like the club atmosphere. The food is good. It is fun and nice to me........ The bar staff is great....we walk in and a drink is there waiting on us without even asking....

In the earlier evening, it is mostly happy hour crowd at the bar and kindof light. As the night gets busier, the bar area gets much more crowded. When we go there, our target time is about 930 because we like the club crowd. A DJ starts around 10-10:30 and from that point on it is pretty much anything goes and there are a lot of open minded people socializing and having fun.

If you are totally against club scene, you might not want to be there past 9 or 9:30pm.

The same goes pretty much for Martini Park at the Shops of Legacy. GREAT fun place but a lot of interaction and no quiet areas for "personal time".

If you want a nice dinner with no other interaction (as in live music, bar crowd) you might try these options at Shops of Legacy......Jaspers, Mi Concini (dining section), Nicola's (dining section), possibly Cru (mostly a wine bar but good food, Bob's Steak House (excellent). The entire Shops of Legacy area is very nice with music, the tree, lake....so if you want to walk around and have coffee that is great and if you prefer a cocktail there are plenty available as well. Lively area!

Other alternatives in North Dallas off the Dallas North Tollway area and depending on price are Sullivan's (nice atmosphere, good food and service $$$$), Del Frisco's (one of best in town $$$$$ country clubbish atmosphere/excellent service), III Forks (one of best in town $$$$$, country western atmosphere/music, excellent service), Ruth Chris (excellent food and service), PF Chang's ($$$ bar gets clubbish), Maggiano's ($$$$ great Italian and good service), Maguires (good food, we've only been to the bar area),
I can name more if you like, we love date night and going to places like these.

If you head north toward McKinney.....GoodHues Steakhouse, Rick's Chophouse.

Tina is right!!!! Watters Creek at Bethany/75 has Woodlands Grill, Brio, Cru, Naan and Mi Concini. We LOVE that area as well!!

Enjoy!!

I recomend Ruths Chris. The service and food was outstanding. We have been to other places we enjoyed very much, but if we are going to drop some cash for a nice evening Ruth hands down. Plus there are some good clubs and bars around if you want to hang a bit later. Mercy wine bar is great.

hmmmm, when we went to Loft 610 it was very COUGARISH! Really cool for older men, with tons for them to look at, but not our cup of tea. I read the other mom mention "open minded" she meant it ;-) The music is really loud, and I don't know, just not what we were looking for.

One place that comes to mind is Petes Piano bar for birthday events. That is always a good time. About 2 weeks ago we went to the improv had some drinks / laughs then headed across the hall to Petes Piano bar. That was actually a really good time, and has great staff, etc...

Good luck and it is wonderful that you are having a night out! We should all do that more often :-) Have fun
