So What Happened?

Thanks soooooo much ladies for all the GREAT suggestions, and help! We were able to get her some food, and find some places that can help her out from time to time! In helping her, I've learned what a vicious cycle this all is. She can't get WIC because she doesn't have "legal custody" of her grandson (even though her daughter abandoned him in August). She can't prove "residency" for other places, because the apartment and bills aren't in her name (because of previous bad credit)... etc.

The information that you gave me was GREAT!! Thanks so very much!!!

in the HEB area, tell her to go to New Hope Center...They are a part of 6 Stones Ministry, a wonderful organization...which by the way if anyone can volunteer with them every... ck out their website... I have volunteered with them before and they are amazing!!! http://www.6stones.org/newhope/

Good Luck to your friend...

Try this link...you can put in the zip code and it will give you local area food banks. I hope your friend gets the assistance he or she needs. :)

Harvest Church could probably give you the list. They are on 377. I know there was one I had to use once by NE Mall I think on Bedford Trail? G. W

I'm a caseworker for the state and I always refer people to call 211 for resources. They're open 24/7.

211 has some but not all. A few good places is Harvest Church off Denton Highway in Watauga. They service everyone. They usually do it the 3rd Saturday of the month from 8:30-10:00. They are having it next Saturday and giving out Christmas food. Need license, paycheck if working and socials for family members. They will let you get food though if missing something. 6 times a year.

Then there is Gateway Church in Southlake! Call them cause their pantry is somewhere else. The give 7 complete good meals a week. You can go every thursday from 9-5. They service everyone. Only need your license. You can go every week.

Community Enrichment Center off 820 in North Richland Hills by Rufe Snow aross from Walmart next too 5 star ford. It is across from North Richland Hills Church of Christ. You can go M,T,Th & Friday 10-2. You need same stuff as Harvest. They have certain areas they service so look online for the center or call them. THey are also on 211. You can go 4 times a year from your birth month to birth month.

I used WIC (Women Infants and Children) when my kids were little, i think they have to be under 5, they were very helpful, and could probably recommend some place if they can not help her
