Hi ladies,
Just wondering what everyone uses for their laundry detergent. I need something that will keep the color in the darks...but could be also be used for whites. I buy the detergent, woolite and fabric softener. I would like to go down to using only one or possibly two products. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hi,
I have used Shaklee's cleaning products since my kids were babies because they are non-toxic and very concentrated so you save a ton of money. You can get more info or a free sample at www.greenandsafeclean.com

My oldest daughter was a spitter and I stored her baby clothes with stains on them. 4 yrs later when my other daughter was born, I brought the clothes out, soaked them for a few days and all the stains were gone.

Usually the temperature has a lot to do with colors getting faded, I never wash my dark clothes in warm or hot unless its really needed (toddler peed in blue jeans, etc) I also really likes the cold water cheer they came out with awhile ago, it worked well with dark colors combined with cold water. It worked fine when I used hot water for my towels etc too so really only need that. We have since bought a hi-efficiency washer so can only use the "he" detergent and there's not a lot of options there. I have also always loved the arm and hammer dtergetnt (again can't use it with my he washer so I miss it) its inexpensive, smells great and seems to keep my colors looking good.

I love the detergent All. It has a stain lifter too for the kids clothes. It is mid priced so cost effective.

I use Restore for everything. I add a little borax for whites and lights, which I have in the house anyway for making general purpose cleaners. Then I fill a Downy ball with vinegar for fabric softening.

Just an FYI on the Restore, it doesn't have chemical "suds" additives, so the water doesn't look very bubbly when you wash. Turns out the bubbles in traditional laundry detergent are added in for psychological benefit and have nothing to do with how clean your clothes are. I'll take fewer chemicals in my home, thank you! :)

I also use Restore for just about every cleaning purpose. When you bring your container back to Whole Foods, you can refill it and get $1 off.

I use All Free & Clear for all of our clothes... My baby and I both have sensitive skin, so it works great. It doesn't have any fragrance, so if you like really good smelling laundry, you should try another All product. I also use Clorox 2 Free & Clear for stains, which I use in most loads. And I use Bounce Free & Clear dryer sheets. My laundry comes out super clean and soft. Good luck settling on something!

I swear by my combination of Target's Baby Laundry Detergent and Oxi Clean stain removal powder. The trick is to run the water first, putting the detergents in right away to make sure they're totally disolved. Then add the clothes. Not only do my clothes seem to not fade, but I can wash my kids' clothes together without separating colors and they don't seem to bleed. Other moms I know have also had good luck with Costco's version of Free & Clear.

We use Melaleuca products in our home. They're all natural and safer for us. We use just the regular detergent, and dryer sheets. Occasionally I'll throw in some brightener, but that's rare and only with the whites. Our colors stay really well. One thing I've noticed though is that it's not the washing that fades the colors - it's the drying in the dryer. I have a ton of tank tops (all the same brand - some even the same color), and the ones that have been thrown in the dryer are fading, but the ones that are always hung to dry are still true.

I use Arm and Hammer. I love it. It smells fresh and that also has softer in it and it normally it pretty creap. It seem to get all the spit up and grass stands and all the fun stuff kids do to mess there clothes. I would try this brand

In the past I have used Dreft and have always kept the water temperature cool to warm. In the past couple of months, I have switched to the Target brand of Dreft. It is in a white bottle with a pink label.
