Why do you think people hate Justin Bieber and Sarah Palin so much? There are worse celebrities out there who are adored by many. I happen to like them both. I know they have more fans than haters and maybe everyone has haters but theirs happen to be extra loud... I don't know. What do you think? Does it have to do with them both being thrown in the spotlight suddenly? Or do I want to know...LOL Thanks!

What can I do next?

Easy.

1) One's a popstar and popstars always have people who hate them/ it becomes "cool" to hate them. Think how "cool" New Kids On The Block were, and then how hated. Backstreet Boys. Brittany Spears. That's just normal business (and planned for) in the pop music industry.

2) One's a politician. Half of the country is going to outright disagree with them, and a significant portion of those are going to not just disagree but violently disagree.

I agree with basically what everyone has said so far... jealousy, wanting to see people fail, the fact that they ARE celebrities... and quite popular.

I don't care much for Justin Beiber cause he looks like a 6 year old girl, and HE'S supposed to be a teen heart throb? He doesn't come off to me like a teen ANYthing... I guess the fact that he was put in the wrong category bothers me more than anything else... How about "Late, Effeminate Bloomer That Sings"? That sounds like a better title for him.

What is really funny is that the 5th grade girls at my daughters' school can't stand him! LOL!

But really, I could care less either way:)

I like both of them...to a degree. I've heard the movie Never Say Never a million times in my SUV in the last week, I'm okay to never hear JB again!! But I do like his songs and he's a cute kid! My daughter's (8) crush on him reminds me of me at her age and in love with New Kids on the Block. So it brings me back to 2nd grade.

Sarah has been attacked visciously by the media, she's a politician, so it's expected. They went overboard, but it is what it is. I think she needs to just lay low for a while and do her thing. I do like her and I agree with most of what she has to say, but I don't think I would ever vote for her, depending on the other options.

It's all in what the media has done on people.

Since I do not know Justin Bieber personally it is not that I do not like him, but I do not like his music. His voice gets on my nerves.

I don't personally know Sarah Palin either, but I don't like her for several reasons. One is that she quit before her term as governor was over. That doesn't exactly prove that she has the determination and strength to stick with a harder, more demanding job such as President of the United States. Another reason is I think she is just like most politicians; she is interested in self gain and not the people. She talks like a politician, talking around things and not giving straight answers. When she does answer a question it is just to repeat what she has said a dozen times before over the last 4 years.

I am sure that there are many people who disagree with me, but those are my reasons for not liking them.

Jaimee,

Honestly, I don't really care about celebrities much. I liked JB more when he started out--he was honorable and seemed innocent. Now he seems like the fame has gotten to him and he is too flashy. Sarah Palin is an incredible woman and I think that people like to hate her because they can--(republican) and because she is pretty and smart. There aren't alot of women politicians out there that are as beautiful and smart as she is. She takes alot of risks and that scares people. JMO.

Jealousy

Some people prefer to hate and be jealous instead of be glad someone did something positive for themselves.

I like to see someone perservere and do well.

It's astounding to me how much people hate Palin. If you don't like what she stands for then, don't vote for her, turn the channel, don't go to her events, etc. During the election when she was on the bus with her kids, there were women (democrats I presume) holding up large posters with the word C_ _ T (rhymes with bunt....) emblazoned on them. Seriously, I wonder the same thing. What brings on that kind of hate for a fellow woman/human being? Sure you can disagree with people's positions, but hate them? Silly.

I really don't get into those kinds of things. I have so much to deal with already. I know the majority of people like to see people fail and then when they don't it pisses them off. Human nature is not nice.

I think they are ripping Sarah apart because they are afraid of her becoming president:-) So, they are doing everything they can to discredit her and make people hate her.

Justin Beiber...haha! For me it's almost like a mystery as to why he's so popular with kids...maybe that's why it makes others hate him? I have no opinion on him. I haven't really listened to any of his music (that I know of) and haven't seen any videos. I only hear jokes about him.

Jaimee,

Justin Bieber is just a talented and nice kid, I've not heard any mature adult say anything about hating him. Sarah Palin was thrust into the spot light because the GOP wanted to have "their" version of Hilary Clinton even though there is no intellectual comparison between the two women.

Some people blame Palin for losing the presidential race for McCain, while others are grateful to her. Again there is no reason to hate either Justin or Sarah or to take either of them too seriously. I don't like Justin's music, but I do think he sets a good example for our youth. Palin on the other hand quit her job as governor during her term, that doesn't set a good example, especially for anyone who might entertain running for President.

They both make a lot of $$ by talking and singing. I predict they both will fade away into the sunset.

Justin is no Donny Osmond or Michael Jackson, and Sarah is no Hilary or Condolezza...Hope they both make enough money so their families will be OK.

Blessings

I don't hate either one of them.

Justin Bieber is cute...I'm not a tweeny nor am I a young girl - so he's a boy or young man who sings and plays music...

Sarah Palin? I don't hate her. She's got spunk. She speaks her mind.

I agree with another poster - if she were a Democrat or a Liberal spouting off - she would've been a rock star....

However, she lost some kudos from me because she left office early - I think it was a cop out and in poor form.....I do believe that the liberal left were inciting her (reporter moving in next door, rummaging her trash, trying to find ANYTHING bad about her) but she still signed up and gave her oath to do a job and she left it early.

Sarah Palin has strong ideals/values and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She puts her family first and wants what is best for our country and she isn't afraid to state her mind...

Now if you were to ask me about Obama, Pelosi, Reid - I could give you a ton of answers...but that's not what you asked.

I've never heard JB sing, so no opinion on that. I have seen him in the church lady skit on SNL and on Extreme Home Makeover. He seemed like a nice boy on those.
I don't know why people, especially women, don't like Sarah. The reasons they give would all apply to President Obama, whom they seem to love.

Justin is just another teen heart throb in a long line of them.
I don't know much about him - I don't care, but I think David Cassidy in his day (his Keith Partridge days) was way cuter.

Sarah is an ex politician.
I can't think of any politician I'm particularly fond of.
I'm not exactly sure what her job title is right now and I don't care.

I know more about J K Rowling than I know about either of these two and I like her.

I really don't care one way or another about Justin Biever. I'm actually surprised I even know who he is, as I have two small boys.

I don't care for Sarah Palin because she is more interested in rallying people against the Dems and less interested in learning about the issues so that she can speak intelligently about them. I have not heard her make arguments of any substance other than to criticize. When she is asked specific questions about issues she rarely knows what she's talking about.

Call me crazy, but I do think being educated about the issues is an important characteristic in a politician.

Personally, I think it's trendy. One person hates on someone and the next person in line doesn't want to look stupid so they say that they hate them too and pretty soon it's the "thing to do".

So, I'll go against the trend! I am a music teacher and have friends that are AMAZING musicians. They "hate" Taylor Swift and I *LOVE* her music! :)

Well I couldn't pick Justin Bieber out in a line up, nor would I recognize any of his music. My daughter told me that I did not like him, because she doesn't. I have really no clue who he is. Until about a month ago I thought the was a Disney actor on one of those Disney shows I refuse to have on in my house.

I don't think Sarah Palin would make a good president, no one would take her seriously. Would I hang out with her, you bet, although I think she is something of a dingbat.

I don't particularly care about celebs. Beiber is another teen boy that everyone loves even though he takes advantage of the law and such, but honestly who cares?

Sarah Palin, people just don't like her. Maybe she sounds like she doesn't really know issues like she should or she's a woman or she's too aggressive. I'm sure they have their reasons. Who knows... no one is going to like everyone.

And as far as women candidates (I see responses about women against women), I base my vote on individual people not gender or race. It makes about as much sense as black people saying Obama is so great b/c he can help us. (though he is not technically black I have heard the statement). I'm not going to be for or against a candidate because she is a woman. If she ran for pres, I would look up her criteria and vote based on research. From what I've seen she gets tongue tied on specific issues like she doesn't really understand the topic she represents, but maybe she just needs communication training like Obama (hate him or love him, he's a great speaker). I also think it's funny hearing about Obama ruining the country (I'm neutral with my opinion of Obama) because it's actually congress that has the majority of political power in that dept, so if the nation is getting worse start replacing congress... another president does NOT solve the problem no matter how great they are.

@bobbi, wow that's ridiculous. I hate when people do that kind of stuff. If you don't like them then you don't like them... but ya don't treat em like that.

I guess I'm just very individualistic that way. I don't base anything on gender, race, etc. I'm very person to person on that stuff. In every day I try my best not to stereotype fashion trends (that's where my weakness lies is cosmetic things, like baggy clothes vs suits, and mohawks vs clean shaven).
