My friends 4 year old son told her that his private wouldn't go down. She really didn't know what to say or do but she noticed later that night that he had an erection again. Is this normal?

What can I do next?

It's normal!!! Don't freak out...just find something else for him to do or think about. My son has that problem in the morning (he's 5) and in the middle of the night when he has to go to the bathroom.

I have a four year old boy and that sounds normal to me...

Mine used to tell me that it was "big" sometimes. We've had a couple of conversations about keeping p****** p**** private, so maybe that's why he doesn't make announcements anymore! I think it's normal and not to be made a big deal about....

Perfectly Normal. He is probably t******* h******. My 2 1/2 year old son does this every time he is in the bath. All you can really do is tell him to stop. It is like anything else new, he should move on to something else sooner or later.

Yep, it is normal. I didn't realize until I had two boys (age 13 months and almost 3 yrs) that they get erections as BABIES! I mean from the time they are born. My almost 3 year old gets them literally every morning (just like most men- that "morning woody"). He says, "Mommy, my pee pee is bigger." I just tell him if he wants or needs to hold it, he needs to go sit in his bed. He usually just acknoledges it and then goes on about whatever else he was doing before.

So, yes, they get erections from the time they are born until they die! :)

ha! An issue that never goes away..
only thing she needs to worry about is if he took daddy's ED med and he has an erection that last 6-8 hours!

Absolutely. My sone onced announced while we were watching cartoons, that his peepee looked like a rocket, "See mommy".
I just explained that you don't show people your pee pee parts, that's why we wear underwera - it worked for him.

When my second son got older (about 7) I had to explain to him that it was a normal response for boys to get an erection, but that if he felt the need to touch himself he needed to do it in his own bedroom, or the bathroom, becasue other people don't want to watch.

my son is 5 and he has this. mostly in the morning when he needs to pee-pee. he said to me, "that happens sometimes mom". He didn't seem concerned about it and we've all heard of the "pee-hard" that men have so I think it's normal.

BUT - very weird for us mommies to see on our little sons!!! LOL ~ L. :-)

I have the same issue with my three year old son, He is constly having an erection. I caught him taking my daughters dolls and tying to rub all over them. I asked him whats going on he told me that his winnie gets big and he does not know what to do. So I think its normal, In my world it is. I am a little freaked out about him taking the dolls. Regardless to say we dont have dolls in our home anymore. My mother explained to me that some boys are born with more tatostronem (SP)then others. If thats the case my three year old got it all.

normal my son starting having them when he was 2, mostly in the morning when he needed to pee. her son has probably found that if he touches it then it grows. pretty normal thing to find it. they need to decide as a family how masturbation should be handled. if they have strict thoughts about it then tell the son, otherwise just tell him not to play with it in public and not so much that it keeps happening. and dont be shocked if one day he tells her he is wet and not from pee. my son hasnt told me that one yet. actually once i told my son to leave it alone and it would stop being hard then he stopped. your friend doesnt have to go into a long sex story on why it is happening but appropriate "what's happening" talks should take place.
