I am thinking about asking Santa for an Ipad for christmas. I have wanted one ever since they came out. I attentd college and think one would be very useful. Plus they seem awesome. My question has several parts:
1. For those licky ducks that have one do you love it?
2. If you have an IPad 2 is it better and how?
3. Do you know of any ways to get the best deal possible?
Thanks

What can I do next?

It's good to ask Santa for the pricey things, better chance of getting it!
1. My wife has one, I use it as well. It is awesome
2. It's not an Ipad2
3. Look on Craigslist (under electronics), I see them on there from time to time, brand new. My wife got a brand new Kindle from there for $100.

Some things to think about. You mention college, I would suggest a keyboard if you plan on doing a lot of typing. And I wouldn't have Santa pay the extra money for a 3g model, WiFi is free in tons of places.

Apple does have special education pricing for students- I don't know if it is good on i-pads, but it is good on computers. It is not a huge discount, but any discount is helpful. Ask at the store or check on-line. I have a mac computer and an I-pad. I like it because i can carry the i pad in a big purse and leave my computer at home when I travel. I have an i-pad and my husband has an I-pad 2. It is thinner, has the ability to take pictures, and a few other advantages. You mayl need a data package to be able to access the internet so you should check into the cost of this too. Good luck!

Hi J.,
Both my husband and daughter have an iPad and I thought I wanted one until I heard several of their complaints. MY biggest issue would be not being able to do Adobe flash. I am looking at a Toshiba Thrive which is half the cost ($480 for a 32GB), can do more, oh and it's the only one I've seen that allows you to change the battery. You can check it out at Amazon.com
Hope this helps,
V.
PS You can read all the different reviews as well on both the iPad as well as the Thrive.

Love My IPad2 but do find it a little cumbersome for internet use (if you are just gonna be on one page- not bad but if you are looking at several sights at once it gets difficult) but if you are using app sites it is great! Also LOVE the Apple books!

Hope Santa brings you all you are wishing for!

And really! Some people need to lighten up and get a sense of Humor!!!! In my house "Santa" is my husband!

You're joking about asking Santa, right?

But anyway - yes, the iPad is pretty cool. My husband has an iPad1 and I have the iPad2. The 2 is much lighter and thinner than the 1. I can hold it in one hand. His takes two hands to hold so when he wants to do something on the touch screen he basically needs to prop it up.

There aren't many deals out there. Apple sets the price and you pay it. Sorry!

While I don't personally own one, we have one here at the office. It is great for our business, as I work in special event management, so we regularly have site visits with clients and being able to show them pictures of the different spaces with different set ups is great. It is also great when I work at different sites, as I am able to load all of the event information (event sheets, diagrams, etc) and have it at my fingertips.

I definitely want one for myself, as I would use it mostly in the same way. I love that it's basically a computer that is ultra portable. I think it would depend on your anticipated use as to whether or not you would 'love' it as well. I personally would not want to use it for reading e-books because I find the screen has more glare than the Nook/Kindle.

Apple Education pricing is not good on the IPad, so if you want a deal, you'd probably have to get a refurbished or a used one. I would stay away from Craigslist, as I know several people who have bought one that didn't work correctly. Since you're in college, you can probably find someone on campus or through a friend that is selling one - then you can maybe know a little more about it and make sure it's worth whatever amount of money you want to spend.

1. Yes!
2. The iPad2 we have is our first iPad so I can't compare.
3. Apple doesn't do "sales" or gimmicky marketing tricks. The price is the price. If you're looking for a better price, look into getting someone's older iPad that has upgraded to an iPad2 maybe?

you go girlfriend, ask santa. i don't own one so i can't tell you anything about it, but our Santa just ordered one for my hubby. i (err sorry santa) ordered it on newegg.com because they were running a 10 per cent off on all iPads this morning, plus I used a cash back site. i ordered iPad 2 16gb with wifi only. They are out of stock now bt keep an eye on that site. I also heard best buy is having sales tomorrow morning, so check that too. use slickdeals.net type iPad on search box and see the deals (do this frequently as deals get posted every minute it seems on a lot of sales going on). good luck

I have been about an Ipad as well for my daughter who is in college and I was told that a laptop (which she already has) would work much better!
