In Need of Your Thoughts....

I am in the process of putting a business plan and will hopefully be opening up a Maternity/Baby/Toddler resale shop here in the very near future. My one big task to complete is to obviously obtain inventory. I have reached out to my friends and family, will be looking at garage sales for "IN GREAT CONDITION" items and will use Craigslist. Any ideas on how to obtain enough inventory so that I have a store ready to go? Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful! Also, if you have any expertise with this subject, please feel free to spead the knowledge!

What can I do next?

Thrift stores may be a source of inventory. Specially when they have 50% off, etc. Good luck! ~C~

I wanted to mention FreeCycle (can't remember if it's .com or .org) but that might be a great place to get inventory, and ALWAYS be on the lookout for Moving Sales (or even Estate Sales), as well as your general Garage Sales.

I'll keep thinking and keeping an ear out, and if I hear of a great idea, I'll be sure to pass it on to you!

Good Luck with your New Shop!! (If you carry toddler clothes and up, I'm pretty sure I'll be there!!) :)

Oh my goodness. You shouldn't have a problem with inventory. I used to take my things to a shop in Lewisville when they first opened. Their inventory became so large that they were booking appointments months in advance to look at "new" stuff.

Also, people love to help if you tell them what you are doing. A good idea might be to contact mom's organizations or church groups who might want to use the money as a fundraiser. They would probably be willing to organize something where people brought their things in for you to look at and you could get some very nice things at a small cost.

Congrats on working towards opening your own business! I would love to have you come and promote your business at a Women's networking Event that I host in my home. We have 35-40 women that attend each month. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the invitation so you can look it over.

Good Luck!
