I am not trying to be snarky, but why wouldn't he just go to the doctor? Wouldn't that be better than trying to describe something we can't see, and having random internet strangers tell you what they THINK it could be when we honestly have no clue as to what it is? We can't diagnose or treat it. I mean this in the nicest way possible :-)

Sounds like some sort of spider/bug bite. I'd give him benedryl and call a doctor.

Hmm. Not sure, but I like this 'visual guide' - granted its for children's rashes/spots/etc. May help you diagnose it. My first thought is hand-foot-mouth disease. But when my son had it, there was no red patch, just the pimples.

I wouldn't give him anything, but I would call his primary care physician. Then his PCP will probably want to see it and if necessary can refer him to the appropriate specialist which may end up being a dermatologist. It could be anything.

He should see a doctor. You're spending all this time on something an MD would probably know right away.

Honestly, unless you post a photo, it's nearly impossible for anyone to tell what it could be. There are so many things it could be. Poison ivy, insect bite, allergic reaction, even a herpes virus rash (think shingles, not VD). Even strep. infections can cause a rash. Hand/foot/mouth would be on the sole of his foot, not the top. If he works until 6 and can't take off, his best bet is to find an urgent care that is open late or go to the ER so he can see a Dr. and get it treated and/or diagnosed as soon as possible. I hope it's better soon!

My co-workers daughter broke out in a rash like this just last week. She thinks it's their new artificial Xmas tree they got last week. Never had a rash like it before bringing the tree home. It's always a possibility, we have no idea what China a using to make our stuff from one day (or year) to the next.

I don't know if you have already had this issue solved. It does seem like a spider bite to me, but I honestly don't know. I would suggest benedryl, and if that doesn't work, since you can't take off to go to a doctor, after-hours clinics are usually open until 8pm, and are much cheaper than a trip to the ER. There are 2 in Yukon (Mercy After-hours & Access Medical), and 1 in El Reno (Urgent Care). I'm not sure about OKC, but I'm sure they would work the same way. Good Luck!
