Am I alone here in that I absolutely HATE Winter Break? Normally, I am home with our highly active, highly needy 17-month old daughter while my 4 year old is at Pre-K. This year, I am now home with the same needy 17-month old, along with her 4-year old sister. Don't get me wrong. I love my kids. But this whole week off is driving me friggin nuts. I never realized how much I depend on schooling for my children.

What can I do next?

Oh E....you have such a long road to go. Just wait until they are 12 and have you doing something OUTSIDE of your house EVERYDAY when all you want to do is stay home. Do yourself a favor (and your children) try to appreciate every age and put them away for your memories in your old age. I have 4 children, all grown now, and the memories are the brightest spots in my day.
Good luck.

While the two at home for a week will be absolutely crazy at their current ages, I came to cherish those times as they grew older. As a working mother of three boys, I felt I never had time to acutally play with them. It was the breaks in school (and I'd try to get off as well) that gave us time to have fun together. Perhaps you could do something totally different for 2 out of the 5 days that breaks the routine of just trying to survive the day. Also, years from now you will be glad they are close in age. Mine were over 3 years apart and that really helped when they were young, but once they got older it became harder and harder to find things to do as a family that all would enjoy and that would be appropriate for the youngest.
Good luck, S.

I only have one child, so I cant personally sympathise with you. But I can totally understand that having the two kids at home might overwelm you. Sometimes it's hard to handle two kids when you are the only adult around.
Hang in there.

I understand where you are coming from, but I love the break and the school schedule. I think that Cherokee County is fortunate to have this calendar...it gives us time to take vacations in off seasons for most places. I also feel like it's a break from all the rush of getting everyone up early and out the door. I have 3 kids...7, 3, and 10 mths. I know it's a hectic week, but I wouldn't change it!
I'm certainly not criticizing you for the way you feel..nothing wrong with it!
Just think, it's Friday already...your little one will return to school in just a couple of days!
Take care,
K.
