Has anyone else seen the movie trailer and is as ridiculously excited about it as I am? I am much more into reading than watching the movies about the books, but this one....I don't know, can't wait!

CH: I haven't been following that closely, but I did see the choice they made for Peeta not to long ago and thought Really? That guy? But seeing him in action sealed the deal, I think he will make a great Peeta! Same thing with Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.

What can I do next?

All of us (daughter, husband, self) loved the books but we've discussed it and we have no desire to see the movie(s) and are actually sorry they're getting made. The movies will have to be all about violent action and can't possibly get us inside Katniss's head, her thoughts, her motivations, the way the books do. I fear the movies will just reduce all the plot to fight, fight, fight and be nothing but a loud special effects spectacular. Sorry not to be as excited as you are, but if you loved the books for more than their action, be prepared to lose Katniss's individual voice and emotions in the movie version.

My daughter has been following the development of the movie since day 1 - what actors are involved, etc. She's soooo excited. She was just searching Hunger Games jewelry and gifts last night on the internet.

She's very concerned that the movie is going to be a lot different from the book, but the author is involved in the filmmaking so she's hopeful it's pretty close.

I just bought the book today! I'm like you, I prefer reading to watching movies. I find reading such a treat and so relaxing.

I admit, my reading circle made up of adult moms read the series over the summer and really liked it, for me mostly, b/c of its very well hidden political POV on war masked as a HarperTeen novel. Very very smartl written and creative.

So I'm with you! I saw the trailer and the first thing I thought of when I saw Peeta was "Really? The Firehouse Dog kid?"

Yes, super excited! I read the books before Mockingjay came out (and had to wait a whole year for the book!) and so I've been waiting a while for the movie. I wasn't too crazy about Peeta either. But I was very happy with Gale.

✩surfnsk8mom✩ - Yes I know what you mean. They all look too well fed and healthy.

I, too, am soooo excited, as are my 14-year-old daughter, my 12-year-old son, my parents, my siblings! I cannot wait to see Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. March can't come fast enough.

I am very excited! But I feel this will another movive that when the "first book" movie is done and those who are watching it haven't read the books will do the same thing that they did in the theater with the Twilight series...get all ticked off and complain about it.

So I will be waiting until all movies are made (if there will be more than one) and watch them all together...which is what I'm now doing with the Twilight series.

None of the actors/actresses look like what I imagined...

YES!!! My teenage son got me into the books and showed me the trailer... I cried...LOL I thought Effie looked corney. My picture of her in my mind was much better, I think. And the "fake" trailers that fans made had better looking characters but I won't judge until I see the movie. I'm sure it will be a great movie since I think the writer of the book helped write the script. YAY! So excited!!

my bf's daughter, age 23, read the book this summer. Her mom then read the book....& then her stepsister who's 31. The book then moved to our house. My 15yo said, "Mom, you have to read this". (He'd read it when it 1st came out....& loved it. He's read the entire series.)

Moving on, my 24yo read it & now I am starting it this wkend. It's like a wildfire burning thru our friends/family. Both of my sons are seriously anticipating the movie....I'll let you know how I feel after this wkend!

Yep, I'm excited. Got my sister and all my co-workers hooked. We spent a ridiculous amount of time the other day discussing the movie casting, good thin the boss is a fan too.
The movie comes out on my birthday and I'm going to make my too-cool-to-read-young-adult-novels husband take me. He'll be hooked and begging to borrow my Kindle to read the books. :)

it looks exciting!
i mean, the only problem is that nobody actually looks as hungry as they sounded in the book, but i didnt really expect them to starve those kids just for a movie!!
it looks like it has potential to be really good. so im looking forward to it!
