We are looking for a Humidifier for our nearly 2 year old daughter's room. She was hardly sick last year, but when we needed one, we didn't know what to get so we just didn't get one. Any suggestions what to get or not to get? Thanks!

If you go to Bed Bath & Beyond they have some great little humidifyers for kids rooms. They are in the shape of different little animals, so they are cute in kids rooms, they don't grow mold so they are safe for those with asthema and the vapors are cool to the touch. They are made just for kid rooms.

ask a pediatrition. they will know what to tell you to get. I have 5 kids and never had to buy anything like that. my youngest is now 8.sorry I don't have much info to tell you. but a doctor can be more accurate on what to do or buy.

Make sure it have cold steam. My now 3 year old burned her hand on a cheap humidifier I bought for her. I did'nt know they came with hot steam. Usually the cheaper ones are hot steam.

Vicks makes a great humidifier and it costs around $25 or so. I found it at Kmart or Target and it is the best one I have owned. They have a few different models and I got the one with the night light on it.

I have a humidifier that was bought at Costco.. I love it.. There is some work with it as far as filling the water every night but it works great. It is a Honeywell. My husband bought it for I believe close to 100.00$. Well worth it.. I hope this helps

Hello L.,
I have a four year old daughter that gets sick every year and the only thing that saves us the unpleasant trip to the hospital in the middle of the night is a humidifier. The one that we use is the Vick Ultrasonic, Cool air humidifier. They work great and seriously help to clear any congestion and passage ways. It was refered to us from a physician and I definately recommend this brand. Hope that is helpful to you and good luck,
M.

I don't know if you're on a budget, but people are ALWAYS giving their Holmes cool air humidifiers to Value Village. Usually, they just need a scrubbing and a new filter and are good to go. I think a lot of people don't feel the difference and decide they don't work, but if you check with a humidistat, they really do!

Hi! After doing some research I found that the cool mist humidifiers are more healthy since they have a less chance of growing bacteria. I finally bought a hamilton beach cool mist humidifier from Babies R Us. You can put the parts that touch the water in the dishwasher so it stays cleaner. Also it is digital and has a low, high, and quiet mode so it is like white sound and helps my daughter sleep when she is sick. Then you also buy new filters so that way again, it is healthier. I also bought the vicks warm mist that you can add the vicks vapor rub to it, before I had my little girl. I just think the cool mist is better for the little ones.

One more thing if you live where there is hard water the manufacture suggests using bottled water so you don't have to worry about the hard water messing up your humidifier.
