Any clever ideas on how to tell kids that our Christmas this year will be at Disney World? So far we've managed to keep it a secret! None of us have ever been there...in fact this will be the first time the kids have flown. This is a big deal for us so we are looking for ideas on how to tell them. TIA!

What can I do next?

The online Disney Store has some "in park" items that you can buy. Maybe buy them each a pair of Mickey Ears with their names on them, put them in a box with a note that says something like "To be worn on X Date at DisneyWorld" or something to that effect.

Hmmm well you could send for me (I'm in San Diego) then when I get to your house and the kids say, "Why is this strange lady at our house"? I can yell "Surprise, your parents are taking all of us to Disney World"!!! Or, if you don't love that idea, why not make them do a scavenger hunt around the house of lil clues and at the end have a sign saying "We're going to Disney world!" That is so cool I have been to Disneyland and Love it but have ALWAYS wanted to go to Disney World!!!

How fun! My first trip to disney was also at christmas at age 7. My parents gave me letter hints - T then R (Trip). They told me my surprise was at the airport and we had to go there to get it. I assumed it was in a locker - LOL!

So fun! We did that in 2009 with our kids (2, 4, and 6) and I went with my family in 2000 before I met my husband! I LOVE Disney at Christmas :). We are going in July and I can't wait!

We are surprising our kids on Christmas morning with a cruise. We will fly out on January 4th, so it won't be exacly the same, but they have no idea either. We are giving them all new carry-on size suitcases. We are going to fill them with items they will need for the cruise, such as new swim suits, new flip flops, goggles, water proof camera's, sun tan lotion, etc. Once they look at all of that, we aren't 100% sure. I'm considering getting postcards from our ports so they can see the different places we are going, and then make sure we have it on video when we actually TELL them we are going on a cruise. That's my best idea so far.

Others on here have suggested things like a puzzle, a game hunting for clues, and a few other ones I think.

We just went to Disney for the first time (and flew for the first time) just before school started this year. So, I just read your question to my daughter & she got excited & said "Tell her to keep it a secret until they get to the airport!" And that, coming from a girl that doesn't like surprises!! :)

Have a blast!!!

Well...there are things you can and should buy before the park. Like an autograph book.....trading pins (eBay), pick a pearl necklaces, Disney Christmas pjs, Disney shirts. This will cut down on how much you spend at the park. I would put all of this in a big box.....along with a helium Disney balloon, with a note attached to the balloon saying we're going to Disney world for Christmas! Then let them open one special Christmas present early....the balloon will fly out and the awesome reaction will follow.

We went last year at Christmas and it was wonderful. The kids knew. However, a few summers ago I surprised my boys with a trip to Disneyland by waking the up super early and saying get in the car, were going to Disneyland. They were shocked to say the least.

You will love Disney at Christmas. It is beautiful!

I would buy a scrapbook and fill in the first couple of pages... print out the flight itinerary, a picture of Mickey, the hotel reservations... they will figure it out very quickly!

Are you flying down frm Dayton? You could just wait until you get to the airport and see if they figure it out when you check-in!
(did a surprise trip for my son - he had no clue as he thought we were taking my parents to the airport again - he was wondering what was up until the check-in guy mentioned Florida... ROFL!)
