Here's a Picture, Please Help

Please take him in. I am not a doctor but looks like molescum which is casued by a virus.. ugh.. the dr. Removed them b/c they spread between siblings. My 8 yr old was embarresed by them.. she is a swimmer.. they left no scar.. suposidly they may clear up on their own may take up to 2 yrs.. please ask his dr.

Do they itch? Or are they just bumpy?

My son had itchy-butt-itis (as we called it) right after he went from diapers to underwear. He scratched all day! Drove us crazy. When he continued scratching so much and so often he was bleeding, we took him to the doctor. Turned out he really had something! It was folliculitis, an inflammation/irritation of the hair follicles. It started with the friction of the new underwear and can eventually lead to a minor staph infection. He was prescribed an antibiotic cream for the actual folliculitis and cortisone cream to help with the itching itself. We found out another of his friends had it, too, so it's not that uncommon.

It cleared up in a few days BUT it's been 2 months and he still won't keep his hands out of his pants! Driving me crazy!

Looks and sounds like molluscum. Molluscum is a virus and the only thing that cures it is time. You can and should confirm if that's what it is so that you can take precautions to keep it from spreading. It can take several months to several YEARS to clear up but generally it's not bothersome. A friend's daughter got MRSA after she had one pop and it became infected, but that's really the only complication I've ever heard of (and she's fine).

Looks like it could be molluscum. My daughter had a few bumps on her torso for nearly two years. It is quite common and a doctor may or may not remove them...removing them doesn't rid your body of the virus.

The fact that they don't seem to itch and aren't changing from day to day would indicate something other than bug bites. You might try dabbing on a bit of regular ROLL-ON deodorant. The aluminum will take down the swelling within a day. I've had success with this treatment on all sorts of bug bites...though wicked little fire ant stings need repeat applications.

Take him to the dermatologist. To me it looks like this thing where there is dry skin under the skin. I can't remember the technical term but it happens when hormone levels change and there isn't much you can do about it. BUT it only looks like it, so I can't be for sure . . .that and he's a toddler so I hope he doesn't have fluctuating hormones. I've had it since puberty so and is getting better as I get older. . .hmmmmm defiantly to the dermatologist.

Looks like some kind of bites to me, and sometimes they take a while to go away. He's not itching so thats a good thing. Try a little cortisone cream on them for a few days. I bet they vanish as quickly as they appeared.

Take him to the pediatrician. Some skin stuff is no big deal - some can turn into a big deal if ignored. Get it looked at and get your peace of mind back.

my kids get them on their butts...no joking..they itch bad for them...I use itch cream and that is the best i can do. I have never asked the doc about them. in fact my oldest just came up to me just now with his hands down his behind and I was like what are you doing?? He goes mom it itches really bad...Sure enough he has like three. So if anyone has answers...please..I have just been treating them like diaper rash...even though they are not in diapers.

my very 1st thought was: bug bites....like fleas. They will raise with a blistered head. I also have a sensitivity to mosquito bites & mine raise like that.

My next thought was: change your laundry detergent. Even if it is a "free & clear" product, he may have developed a sensitivity to it. BUT, I truly believe you would see it more widespread on his body.

& one more thought: that's exactly what my husband's rash looked like when he came in contact with poison oak....not poison ivy.

It looks like Molluscum. My daughter has this and we have been battling it for a few months now. You will probably need to take him to the Ped. to make sure. There really isn't much you can do about it, and it takes months to YEARS for it to go away. It's far one of the most frustrating things I have dealt with. We make sure that when we take my daughter to her classes that she is wearing long sleeve shirts so she doesn't spread them. There are a few treatments for this, we are using Zymaderm but haven't seen any success. The dermatologist we went to says that there is a blistering agent that will irritate the bumps and cause your childs immune system to kick in and take care of it. I am giving my daughter one more month of treatment with the Zymaderm, if I don't see any improvement, then I am taking her back for the blistering treatment. Hope it turns out to be something else :(

Not sure what it is, could be folliculitis, deematitis, or just excema. Have him checked out by a pediatrician or a dermatologist. Try an outmeal bath by Aveeno and try the oatmeal cream as well, that might help. I think though that you need to see a doctor because that is your best bet and quite frankly it could be a lot of things.

If they're not receding or appearing elsewhere, it's not bugs. I would HIGHLY doubt it's your laundry detergent or cleanliness issue, because they're NOT on "places where clothes touch" but only in one asymmetric place.

Could it be chiggers? ....I'd take him to the doc if it doesn't clear up on it's own.
