We woke up this morning and I said.."do you know what today is?" didnt receive an answer other than, "do you know where my jeans are?"..I was a little upset but didn't think too much about it. And then this evening, I was gonna take the dog for a walk and he stopped me and said " you look really in that sweatshirt" and I said, "Really, its a hand me down Tigger sweatshirt my Aunt gave me?"..he said "it looks nice on you". To which I replied,"you must reallly love me after what I look like today". I have been in sweats and a t-shirt all day, no make up and didin't do my hair..just pretty much a lazy day with the kids..and he said " You know, its not really your looks, you're really beautiful but it's the person that you are..I knew from the moment we met that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you"....Now, how sweet is that? I think I fell in love with him all over again after he said that...
Did anyone else get anything extra special for Sweetest Day?

What can I do next?

I'm not dating right now but:

Last year one of my dear male freinds (not a former SO) remembered my birthday. He plays guitar for the band I roadie for and announced my birthday from the stage and everyone sang for me. My B-day is Dec 24 and NO ONE except my best friend, my kids and Mom ever remember my birthday.

I was thrilled.

He has always said, "I have loved you before I ever met you.. "

yeah, I worked for a card company and they actually have sweetest day and cards and it is not even near valentines.... very strange............a day for everything. Parents day is on the calender too, what are we to do ?

Sweetest thing was when my hubby and I were dating and he drank all of my apple juice in the fridge of my studio apt and replaced it with the biggest and largest jug of apple juice I have ever seen with a note that said, "sorry I drank it all."

I'm celebrating my 40th birthday this month. I have thrown my hubby two parties in our years together. (One was a surprise party for his 30th). I had attempted to subtly let hubby know that I wanted him to throw me a party this year. He didn't really seem to be doing anything to initiate, so I asked a few friends to "help" him plan it. I just wanted to have him take the initiative, ya know? Well, I then decided that was a little too much to ask, given hubs isn't really the party planner type. It was planned for next weekend and I was ok with co-planning.
WELL, yesterday, my family went to a friend's house to celebrate what I thought was their wedding anniversary. OMG!! My wonderful husband HAD planned a party! A surprise party! A house filled with my friends and family!! He had been planning this party since January!! My family was there (most of which drove from Iowa), plus my college roommate who I hadn't seen for almost 2 years! THEN, he informed me that since my dear friend from Georgia couldn't be here, we were going to Georgia next weekend to see her! Holy sweetest, batman! He went over and above anything I would've ever expected.
*I noticed a sign in the grocery store next to the flowers, saying it was Sweetest Day. I didn't actually think about my party and the day until you mentioned it. Fitting. :)

I don't know about sweetest day but my husband always tells me I look beautiful, even in my most unpretty moments. I think the sweetest thing he ever did for me was when we had our baby boy dedicated at church. I had been feeling less than pretty and complaining about how none of my nice clothes fit for the dedication. I knew money was tight so I was planning on making do. The day before the dedication, he had his mom trick me into a day of pampering at a nice spa, massage, hair, the whole deal. Then that morning when I was getting out of the shower the next morning to get dressed, laying across the bed was the most matronly but adorable blue polka dot dress his mom so adorably helped him pick out for me from one of her older lady catalogs. It had a little bow tie in the front and a long full skirt. I thought it was kind of trendy looking until I turned it around and saw the big puckery frumpy wide gathered elastic waist in the back. If I wear elastic, I cover it with a belt or shirt, but there was no hiding this. But it was so sweet I didn't care. His mom even picked out some conservative but sexy white panties and bra. And they got me a pearl bracelet and a pair of cute conservative white heels. I felt so pampered and feminine when I slipped into that dress and felt that silky fabric caressing my skin and that full flowy comfy skirt and that soft forgiving elastic hugging my baby waist. I have never felt more beautiful and more content than I was pushing that stroller up to the church with my sweet matronly little dress billowing in the breeze, and our twin toddlers are holding each of his hands. I have never been more in love, and hubby looked at me like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. And the dedication was so beautiful and spiritual. Matronly never felt so satisfying or beautiful. And after church and putting the kids to bed, we had a little romantic moment on the couch as he sat me on his lap on the sofa and told me how pretty I looked and smelled. Then he told me he didn't know about the big granny elastic when I told my mom to order it. But he also didn't know how cute and round it would make my behind look. We kissed more and went to the bedroom, where I'll leave the rest to the imagination except to say it has never been better. My husband could not have made a schlumpy unpretty feeling new mom feel more like a woman and a beautiful mom. I still feel special whenever I wear that dress, which I will always cherish. How sweet of my husband and his mom, who is the only mom I have had in 20 years since losing mine. I am truly blessed by God to have such a living supportive Christian family. My husband is the most wonderful loving partner and father.

The sweetest thing my boyfriend did for me today, was not wake me up with cold feet on my legs! =) LOL. Just kidding, he did other sweet things today too but that one stands out. He also booked a hotel for us next weekend so we could spend the weekend at Disneyland, just the two of us as our schedules have been so hectic lately that we haven't had any time just the two of us. And when I sat down on the couch to have a quick snack in between chores on my to do list, he pulled me over to him and said you look like you could use a hug =) it was sweet since he's not an overly romantic person. I think the best thing today though, besides the feet lol, was after my son's soccer game (my boyfriend had to work and missed the game and I just took over the coach position so it was my first game as coach) he sent me a text and asked how did my son play, how did I do and if the team won. I thought it was sweet that instead of just waiting for us to get home and asking he sent the text.
Maybe I should ask him if he knows what today is lol, poor guy might have a heart attack though thinking he missed an important date =) LOL

No, we joke about it. I kept walking through the house saying "Excuse me, where's my two dozen roses and diamond tennis bracelet?" We really don't acknowledge sweetest day. Heck we barely celebrate Valentines day lol

My husband tries to be romantic, but it's not really his thing. And I quit doing things because of that. Don't get me wrong, we love each other lots and tell each other daily. So thats enough for us :)

BTW What your husband said, was AWESOME.

We don't really celebrate sweetest day. Though when I was little I remember my dad getting my mom flowers every year. The sweetest thing my hubby ever did wasn't on sweetest day, and it was such a little thing. We had just found out we were pregnant, we had gotten engaged only about2 mnths before that. I was planning on getting married in 9 mnths not having a baby! I wasn't sure how we were going to afford it, but I knew that I really wanted this baby. Well it was my day off and I was still in bed when my now husband was leaving for work. He kissed me good bye and then bent down and kissed my belly and said bye baby I love you. I knew then that he wanted the baby as much as I did! Now our son is two and my husband is one of the most affection fathers I know.

once again, I've learned something from Mamapedia!

Sweetest Day....no way! My entire circle of family/friends are clueless, too. Thanks for teaching us.....

Sweetest thing today: my 15yo texted me after Band won 1st Place in prelims & advanced to finals. It's 12:30am here & he won't be home for another hour. He was so tired on his last text....that he couldn't remember if they ended the day in 2nd or 3rd place! Can't wait for the details!

& this afternoon, my DH dug out all of our tombstones which we place in our front yard. He repaired the stakes & placed them all for me. (they're a pain to hammer into the ground.) A simple little 15 minute job which made a huge difference in the scheme of things.
