We have these bugs all through our apartment and they are worse than spiders to me. A bug with defenses~!~~~ Who does that? I am so grossed out right now. Has anyone ever actually been pinches b4? I am totally wearing gloves every time I do laundry, no joke.

What can I do next?

I remember picking up my sons car seat and feeling something sharp prick my skin. I looked under and saw the little pincher bug and had the heebie jeebies so bad I cannot even tell you! We have them in abundance where I live and I do not like them at all but I can honestly say I have only been pinched that once!

I found this info online "Earwigs are fairly abundant and found in many areas of the world. There is no evidence that they transmit diseases to humans or other animals. Their pincers are commonly believed to be dangerous, but in reality even the curved pincers of males cause little harm to humans. It is a common myth that earwigs crawl into the human ear and lay eggs in the brain.Finding earwigs in the human ear is rare, as most species do not fly and prefer dark and damp areas (such as basements) rather than typical bedrooms."

Looks like you don't have to be too worried about getting pinched.

I've lived in an environment that had plenty of them in summer... never got pinched. The worst thing about them is that they smell HORRIBLE when you squish them.

I have been "pinched" and did not even feel it. Some of the stories on here must have been about earwigs on steroids. lol!

Crystal, earwig = pincher bug. We have plenty of them in CA. They're mostly about a half inch to an inch long and have a small pincher at the end.

JL-I don't know WTH kind of pincher bugs you have, but your story is straight out of a horror movie, lol! I step on them and they squish with no issues...no suit of armor here :)

When I was about 10 I had this weird feeling inside my ear while I was at school. I went to see the nurse & she pulled an earwig out of my ear with tweezers.

That freaked me out! I'm lucky I didn't get pinched.
