I was just talking to someone this morning who delivered there with Dr. Dooley. They loved her and the nursing staff, but had problems with the anesthetiologist (sp?). Apparently she had problems putting the epidural in, and then argued with the patient (a 3rd time mom) regarding what she was feeling. This friend since then has heard other stories about this doctor (named Linda something). Anyway, not to freak you out, but I'd want to know this before I went there. Maybe you can ask Dr. Dooley. Good luck!

I had my son there in Jan of 2006 and it was great! The rooms are all new and were very comfortable. I liked the staff and they seemed to be very helpful and kind. I highly recommend that you go there with your husband and ask them to give you a tour. We went one day after work and they were more than happy to show us around. It was great because they explain what they will be doing when you get there and what will be going on during labor. It was great to have had that experience and to have a one on one with a nurse to answer any of my questions. It also set me at ease to know kind of what to expect when I got there.

I haven't had any of my babies there but I've been a doula at many, many births there and I love that hospital. It is one of the more laid back hospitals in the area. They have a great Tub Room to labor in, if that appeals to you. You can dim the lights, put in a CD of your favorite music and soak the contractions away.

I am not familiar with your doctor, but depending on what you want for your birth, the best thing is to clear it with your doctor before labor begins and you shouldn't have any trouble when the time comes.

Best of Luck!! Keep us posted!

Hi A.!

I delivered the twins @ Presby and they were wonderful. I used Dr. Noble. He is wonderful as well. Gene says Dr. Dooley is very nice and everyone in OB raves about her. As far as the staff and the hospital itself I enjoyed them both. The rooms are fairly newly renovated with flat screen televisions and DVD players. I highly recommend them. If you have further questions let me know and I'll stop by sometimes or just give me a call.

Many Blessings to you and your family!!

Either there are multiple stories about Linda or I am that 3rd time mom's sister in law. :) In any case, my SIL delivered with Dr. Dooley and it was a wonderful (3rd) birth but she had an aweful experience with the anesthesioligist Linda. She had issues getting it in and then when she did it wasn't working right. We asked to to give her something more and she kept saying that my SIL was just too tense and she was fine. Well a 3rd time mom who's gone naturally and had an epi previously knows how each should feel! Anyway, the hospital is wonderful! I delievered my 3 girls there. I never had any issues with any of the nurses or the anesthesiologists I had. I would just ask who is on duty if you are planning on an epi. If there is any way to get someone besides this Linda lady I'd do it. or if its close enough to shift change maybe they can give you something else for the pain till another one can get in there.

Apparently the next morning the nurse who wasn't even on duty that morning but was there for the birth came to check on my SIL because she knew how bad Linda was and she has had complaints on her before. I'm not sure why she's still there...Good luck with your birth.

I don't know anything about the L/D/P unit but the ER was fine when I went. I also worked for a THR hospital (their parent company) and I know that the Presby's are the best. My suggestion, if you haven't already done it, is to take their tour. It is the BEST way to get your questions answered and see what it will be like. I used to give the tours at the hospital I worked at and then, since I worked in post partum, I would sometimes see some of the parents I gave tours too. They would always say how helpful it was in preparing them for their stay. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

I gave birth with both my sons and had no problems with the staff. My doctor was Dr. Cummings. The hospital did a great job. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
