I so love Halloween.
I would ask the 11 and 8 year old what their ideas are and go from there. The baby is pretty much along for the ride and won't care.
Pirates are super cute and easy costumes.
What about the 3 Musketeers?

The best costume my son ever had was a pirate. You would faint if you knew how simple it was.

Have fun!

I only have 2 boys this year and the youngest (age 4) wants to be a ghost and the oldest (age 6) wants to be a mummy! Both easy to make, yeah for that, they are not necessarily the same, but along the same lines? Both spooky! You could add in a werewolf or a Dracula and you'd be golden!

What about Toy Story. One could be Woody, one Buzz and then another character from the movie.

what about farm animals, and you can dress like that farmer! we usually try to coordinate every year as well. This year my girls want to be princess, they want their little brother, who will be about 4 months, to be dragon, and I have to be the evil witch! Or what about super heroes and you can dress as the bad guy! We were gonna do this last yr, make super Abbe and super Madison costumes, but my MIL sent surprise ugly Halloween costumes that of course they had to wear!

What does the 11yo (or 11&8yo) want to be? It's pretty easy to jump off from there if they are willing.

Alvin and the Chipmunks (Simon and Theodore) or the 3 little pigs -although the 8 and 11 year old are probably going to balk at any of these!

What about something from Transformers or Batman? The little one won't care, and that would probably make the other two happy -if they were each a type of Transformer or the 11 year old could be Batman, the 8 year old could be Robin -if he would -if not the 17 month old could be (they have tiny Robin costumes because I just got my 22m old one). and the 8 year old could be The Joker or Penguin or something. You could mix them up however you wanted. It would be really funny for the older two to be Batman and Robin and the baby to be one of the villains!

You can do group themes, like ninja turtles, race car drivers, scarecrows.. my sis did the three little bears and she was goldilocks. one year they were all pirates and the baby was the parrot.

we did sonic the hedgehog and knuckles.

Star Wars are always a hit in my house. And the little one can be Yoda. My son was Yoda at that age.

Someone already posted, but we are trying to find clothing for my kids to make them look like Phineas, Ferb, and Perry. I came across a website with the idea and liked it. My husband also wants to be Doof. Lots of websites for make your own costume ideas. You've been given some good ones though!

The 11 year old is going to [probably care more than the 8 year old so be sure to ask them. I never just picked something out on my own, our daughter had definite taste and knew what she wanted to be long before the season arrived..

One year my neighbor had her 3 (baby, 6 and 9) go as Harry Potter, his girl/friend and the baby was dressed as an owl. It was really cute and wasn't too hard to do!
