Hi Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good female obgyn in the South Austin area. I want to stay away from Hill Country OBGYN, but has anyone had a good experience with any other female doctors in the area? Can anyone give any input on the ARC OBGYN group (Dr. Hool, Dr. Cherry and the others)?? Has anyone seen Dr. Grimes?

What can I do next?

Hello,

I just had a baby on August 19th under the care of Dr.Cherry. I had move to Austin from LA half way thru my pregnancy and had to find a new doctor (after being with my LA doctor for 6 years) and was referred to Cherry. She was great! I had also seen Dr Hool when Cherry was out of the office and she seemed really great too.

I had a nice experience with ARC and Cherry, however she delivers at South Austin Hospital and I was not a big fan of the postpartum patient care there. It wasn't awful, but they are definitely lacking in the TLC department.

Best wishes!

Dr. Julie Grimes is awesome! She was my daughter's ob for her pregnancy and my grand-daughters birth and took amazing care of her throughout the process! I have now changed to her for my gyn. You cannot go wrong with either Dr. Grimes or her husband who is in practice with her!

Dr. Cherry is my doc... Love her! She was my OB for my DD and also did my ovarian cyst removal. She always takes the time to interact with you as a person, not like your a long string of patients. Oh, and I was such a paranoid pregnant mama... what to eat, what I can't eat, exercise questions... Oh, every check up I had 10-15 questions and she took the time to go through them all and put my anxiety to rests. I hear great things about her associate Dr Hooi and the nurses at the office are great.

Cherry delivers at Seton (on 38th). Unfortunately, she did not deliver me. I went into labor on a night that she wasn't on duty... When I saw her at my 6-week check up, she said "Darn it! I wanted to deliver you!!!" (Next time!)

Hi E.-
Dr. Grimes was due to deliver my daughter last year, but because of preclampsia on both of our parts (she was pregnant and due to deliver her son around the same time I delivered my daughter), I ended up changing doctors and hospital locations at the last minute. What I can tell you is she is an OUTSTANDING OB/GYN. She was always kind, thorough and followed up on all of my questions in a timely manner. Even when she didn't deliver, she called me several weeks later to check in with me and make sure that everything was well. She is still my primary OB/GYN and I would highly recommend her. I hope this helps.
Best wishes to you!

Hi E.
If you are willing to go to the 35th and Lamar area, Nancy Binford is a wonderful doctor. She is a peaceful, lovely person and I would recommend her to anyone. Now that I'm done having babies I will really miss those frequent visits!

OMG! You HAVE to go to Dr. Grimes! She is amazing! We became so close during my pregnancy. She's not only your dr, but a friend too. I remember I was going through some hard times and she was right there crying with me! Go see Julie! You WON'T be disappointed!

Dr. Cherry was my OB during my first preganacy and will be during my next. She has great bedside manner. She never rushes appointments and is always open for any questions you might have. I saw one of her associates once, Dr. Hooi, she is great too.

I am a perinatal fitness instructor and I have had clients who have had ARC Ob/Gyn and loved them. I hear that Drs. Cherry and Hooi are great.
