What is the average pay per hour for a teenage babysitter? They (the girls) always say to just pay them whatever I want. I have three kids ages 9, 7 and 14 months.
Thanks!

We usually pay $8-$10 aqn hour. $8 for younger sitters, $10 for over 18 w/ transportation. Even if we come home in less than 4 hours, we always pay $40 b/c we feel we've wasted their time if we pay less.

Ten dollars an hour. You will occasionally find someone who works for a little less. My daughter is seventeen and is considered to be doing a HUGE favor for one of her teachers because she watches their little one for only $7 an hour. The other girls at school think she's crazy, but she does it because the family really needs it. I pay my sitters ten an hour for one, and always round up. I don't pay the best around here so I make sure no one EVER feels shorted. f they tell you to pay them "whatever", they should feel pretty good about a solid ten.

We pay ours $10 an hour to watch our 2 and 4 YO. She asked for $8, but we pay her $10 and minimum $40 for 3-4 hours every week. When we paid less in the past we lost our favorite babysitters to other jobs. We got smart this time and paid the new one we like this rate, every week, and she's been with us for more than a year and gives us priority to other jobs. We may raise it to $12 if we have her start watching the new baby due this spring too, but I don't know how quickly that would happen.

My daughter is 13. I guarantee a sitter $40 for the night even if I have to cancel because she saved the night for us. My normal rate for a weekend night from 7:30ish until 1:00'ish is $60 CASH.

Hope that helps.
