Hi Moms,

I am going crazy here and just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through something similiar. We are trying to get pregnant with a second child, and granted a few weeks ago was the first time we actually tried, but I am now on day 32 of my cycle and still no period. Now my cycle has been very inconsistent since I have gone off of the pill. Since Jan. it has been 27 days, then 29, 27 again then 32 then 29 which was the most recent. I have taken a few home pregnancy tests and they have been negative. Has anyone gone through anything like this before and how did it turn out. I am guessing maybe this is just a long cycle but I still have a little hope that maybe I am pregnant. Thanks for any advice or experience you can give.

K.,

While trying to conceive, I was actually four weeks late, and I had always been very regular. I was convinced I was pregnant, which I was not. It turned out my progesterone level that month was low. But, two months later I conceived my two little boys! It was just a fluke cycle. Hang in there!

If you are not pregnant this time around, I recommend using fertility friend, like a previous poster said. You can chart your body temps, cervical fluid, and other information. I also have had irregular cycles in the past, so I also use ovulation kits to help determine when I am ovulating, and therefore the best time to try to conceive. Best of luck to you, and try not to stress too much :o)

It looks as though your cycle is anywhere from 27 to 32 days long. I'd say give it another week and go from there.

I wish I could say I was in your shoes, but my shoes are different. I've been feeling pregnant ever since the beginning of this months cycle and pregnancy tests still coming up negative. I can relate very well to the going crazy bit.

You could try charting your temps, that will at least tell you if you're ovulating and when. I've been satisfied with FertilityFriend.com as far as charting goes. Also with any luck your cycles will become more consistent.

If in a week you still don't see your period and pregnancy tests are coming up negative. You could get a quantitative blood test. It's more accurate than the urine test.

Good Luck!

K., I am wondering why & where you caught this fear around getting pregnant again.
The biggest source of stress are our own thoughts & I'm sure you know that stress can make you less fertile & is detrimental to a developing fetus.
I encourage you to find a way to alter your thoughts perhaps through meditation, self-hypnosis or stress management classes. You will feel good & the better you feel the better you will be.

A relative got pregnant easily in her first marriage but had a lot of trouble 6-7 years later in her second marriage. It was really really tough on her for a long time. She eventually got pregnant using Clomid.

When I stopped the pill to try to get pregnant, my cycle was a little screwy for the first 3 or 4 months. Then it was like clockwork. I don't know if it matters which prescription strength or how long on the pill, but I was on the a low strength pill A LONG TIME.

Good luck!

www.twoweekwait.com is a great website for sharing the frustrations of trying to conceive.
I recently went through a month like that, and it did turn out to just be a long cycle. But, until your preriod starts, there's always the possibility that you are pregnant.

Another plug for www.fertilityfriend.com too.

Also, you might want to pick up a copy of Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" to learn more about your cycle.

I feel like a broken record every time I suggest this, but using both methods WORK.

They do not involve freaky herbs, wacky medicines, etc. You will learn a lot about your cycle, be able to determine your fertile window, and better prepare yourself for conception NO MATTER how long your cycle is. I think I'm living proof of this; I charted for 4 months and ovulated on day 41 (41! that's so far away from 'normal ole 14) of a cycle and am 3+ months pregnant.

I strongly urge you to go get the book and go to the fertilityfriend website and see what you can learn about becoming successful! Best wishes!
