Looking to thank my fabulous OBGYN, but not sure if it is appropriate.
Thinking gift card to a restaurant? Maybe just a tray of sweets for the
whole office? Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

I think that it is. I hooked a rug & gave it to my OB/GYN who had pulled me oput of a life threatening situation.
He was so honored and when I stopped by to visit him years later he had it hanging behind his desk w/ a feather that his boy had gotten on one of their outings.
Guess it really depends on the Doctor and the spirit in which it is given and you feel is likely to be recieved.

Seriously...the best way to thank anyone in medicine is with food! LOL. Take it from someone who has worked in medicine for years.......Candy, Fruit, Lunch, anything with food is great for any occasion!

I gave my OB a basket from Bath and Body Works. I gave the staff at the hospital bags of candy. I am a RN there so I know my OB pretty well and of course know all the staff. I like the gift card idea, I probably would have done that instead :) Oh and believe me nurses like ANYthing chocolate, or food like!

I had a wonderful relationship with my doctor and his staff, after the baby was born and we were settled in, we made them some goodies (because I know how much woman appreciate sweets) and then had a card specifically for the doctor and then one for the staff. While I was there dropping off everything - I got to show off the baby. I think that even if you don't want to spend the money on a gift card, they probably appreciate a card more than anything!

I also had a great OB/GYN and thought a "thank you" was called for. All I did was buy him a card and wrote a note of gratitude. With the card I gave a picture of him with my son right after he delivered him and another wallet size photo of the baby.

I made a charitable donation in honor of my OB and sent the office a muffin basket for both of my children. The first time, my OB didn't want to choose the charity, so I picked something that would be what she cared about - March of Dimes. The second time she picked Susan Komen - breast cancer charity.

I have to say that my obs were awesome to and I couldnt think of a gift to give to them either at the time other than a thank you card. In my obs office were over crowded picture frames with all the baby pics. falling out so I picked out a large collage frame and put each of my boys pics. in it with their arrival date and addressed it to actually all the staff.
When I went a few months later, it was hanging on their wall with more pics. in it.
Good luck . L.

I think a thank you gift would be a very nice gesture and food is always a great thank you to a large group. Just keep in mind they receive tons of goodies from pharmaceutical reps everyday - this is what I do for a living. I am constantly trying to come up with new things to bring in besides cookies or bagels. A nice fruit tray with caramel or chocolate for dipping is good.

sounds like a beautiful and thoughtful offer. how could you go wrong? i love the idea of including your OB's support team in the thanks. what about flowers - everyone could enjoy, and the doctor could bring them home if he or she wants?
