I need recommendations for a great hotel or condo property in or around Galveston. Has to be on the beach with excellent accomodations (newer with good ambiance), family friendly. I read good reviews about the "Galvestonian" on tripadvisor. Anyone stayed at this property? Thanks.

What can I do next?

We stayed in the Harbor Inn last summer. It is beautiful..an old wharehouse revamped intoa hotel. It is on the water but not on a beach per se. Good luck

The San Luis is the nicest hotel in Galveston. It was newly remodeled, gorgeous, and right on the beach.

Good luck!

I work for the San Luis Resort property in Galveston and it is a beutiful resort. It is basically located acroos the street from the ocean and it has amazing ammenities, like restaurants, a spa, multiple pools(which your kids might like), etc. Plus there are a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. You can go to sanluisresort.com to check it out and depending on what time of year you plan to travel, rates usually start around $300. Sometimes you can stay there for less than that too, but it definitly depends on the time of year.

We have always stayed at The Hotel Glavez. It's right across from the beach and is a great hotel. Great swimming pool and kid friendly. The rooms open from the hallways, rather than from the parking lot, which I feel is somewhat safer. They are located on a corner, so there is a street light and crosswalk to go to the beach.
Go to www.galveston.com . There are many great hotels/motels listed and you can see pictures of it and of the rooms. Maybe this will help your decision.

The San Luis is beautiful. It's on the Seawall so you just have to walk across the street to be on the beach. They were remodeling the pool area when we were there last December. I'm sure it looks great now!

Hello D D

Hubby and I went there and will be going back, as we THRIVE on getaways....anything but home! (ha)

When we went, we stayed at the Flagship Hotel...it was quite cool.

The hotel itself, is built "over the water" and is a few stories high, to which hubby and I got on the highest floor and absolutely LOVED it!!

We slept with our patio door open.....hearing the waves come in during the night and the sounds of the ocean.

The next day, we ate out on the patio to which we had leftovers....

There are a lot of them white birds that fly in the air, so we would throw one french fry at a time into the air, only to see all the birds and their babies make a dive for them....they would catch them in the air.

The Flagship is a bit of an older hotel, but I must say....for someone that don't expect the RICH atmosphere...we had a total great time!!

Hope this helps you, as hubby and I are planning to go back real soon.

Oh, by the way...did I mention, that the beach is right below you and is GREAT!!???

Let me know if you find anything better....

K.
