I recently removed green artificial grass from my porch. However, now i have an unattractive cracked concrete porch and two steps. Any suggestions on glazing or covering to make it more appealing.

What can I do next?

T.-- I believe there is a self-leveling concrete you could get and pour over your porch that would cover up the cracks. You can ask someone at Home Depot or Lowe's and they can give you more info. After you even everything out and get rid of the cracks you can stain the concrete --- I've seen the treatment done and it comes out looking great. Or depending how much work you want to do you can also tile over it. Try DIY.com for some other ideas--- the good thing with their website is that many times there is a video that will walk you through the project you want to do.
Good luck

Slate or flagstone look really nice (or some other stone) and you should be able to just lay it right on top of your existing concrete. It's like tiling a bathroom floor only with outdoor materials.

Check with your local Lowe's or Home Depot. They can give you all kinds of ideas and answer any questions you have. You can also rent any tools you may need and I think they teach you hoaw to use them as well.

Here's to a pretty front porch!

If the concrete is really dirty, you may want to pressure wash it, but it may not be since was covered. Lowe's or Home Depot has a concrete stain that you can have tinted to a variety of colors. It is easy to apply, you'll need a sprayer (like for weed killer) and you just spray it on in a circular motion. You can also do 2 colors so it has more of a textured look. There is a brochure that shows all the options. We did it on our last porch kind of a dark gray blue color (the house was light gray) This new house we are choosing "arizona clay", it blends in more with the red mud! You can repair or fill in cracks, but the color may spruce it up enough- it really makes a beautiful difference. I don't know how crafty or artsy you are but another very clever way I've seen to cover cracks that are sort of big and can't be believably concealed it to paint a vine over it. An actual leafy vine with or without flowers. It looked so gorgeous- the one I saw, and I've always wanted to do it. Good Luck!

You might want to consider an overlay or even adding some color and sealing it. Check with ace hardware or maybe even a contractor. THey will have the best ideas, although it may cost a little more. Good luck!

How 'bout tiling it? We used a terra cotta tile in the same situation that you described...it looks terrific, very rich...and is low maintence and high durability@

We've had good success with the concrete paint that they sell at Lowe's.

Once before, we tried a very cheap concrete paint and we also failed to "strip" the surface with muriatic acid first. The paint lasted 3-6 months before bleeding and fading was considerable. It's worth the extra step to buy and use the acid wash. (Be sure to protect your skin and clothes.) Consider buying or borrowing a pressure washer to thoroughly clean the surface.

We picked a lighter color and brightened the whole look of the house. It can be surprising at first, but you might want to try it.
