I'd always ask your pediatrician before using anything that may affect your child.

I attended a meeting earlier today in which we discussed products not regulated by the FDA which includes most nutritional/herbal supplements. Just because something is on the shelves at a reputable store doesn't mean it's safe to use at all times.

If there's any doubt, ask your pediatrician. I've asked ours about several things I've read on here, and he's rolled his eyes at most.

Good luck!

This tea is awesome and really will help make sure you make enough milk. Any time I feel my volume is going down, I will have 3-5 cups per day and my production goes right back up. Very healthy for both of you!

I drank that stuff too when I was nursing my daughter. I nursed her for 18 months and drank it on and off for the duration. I'm a big tea drinker and usually drink decaf black, decaf green and herbal teas throughout the day. It contains nothing which is known to affect either of you adversely, so I feel like it's safe to drink for as long as you wish.

Take it as long as you need to boost your milk supply. Once you stop taking it, your milk supply will slow down (at least it did for me)

**** In regards to the poster above me, yes you can ask your ped, but very unlikely he will know anything about it. Other than to caution you......any kind of anything you take he will caution you about cause that's what drs. do, and they don't know anything about nursing. If you are concerned and don't believe all the good info on the web on nursing sites like Kellymom, call a lactation consultant.

You can drink as much as you want, the tea is actually very diluted form of several herbs that will help you with milk production...but drinking the tea itself...unless you are drinking huge amounts of it....isn't going to help much if that is why you are drinking it. Drinking lots of fluids does help, eating oatmeal, getting alot of rest, making sure your are nursing on demand (if this is a young baby). Taking a little nursing vacation where you just lay in bed and cuddle and nurse anytime she is interested will do the most for your production. There is also a tincture you can use, or you can take the herbs by pills. You have to take ALOT of it before it actually starts helping.
