Floor Mats

We have hardwood floors and we'll have a crawler in a month or two. I'm looking for reasonably priced floor mats/play mats that will kind of just blend in with things--not super bright multi-colored with pop out pieces. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the knee pad suggestions. I think that will work, but I'm also thinking floor mats (in a sectioned off play space)as a way of creating a little cush--i'm just envisioning heads bonking on hardwood. Is this me just being paranoid?! :)

What can I do next?

Not sure about floor mats, but I have hardwood floors and recommend BabyLegs. They're little legwarmers that work like kneepads. LOVE 'EM. Worth considering. Maybe you'll want these with the floor mats. Good luck!

I'd have to say I recommend the leg warmer thing too. If your little guy is "crawling" then he will not be staying put and unless you are planning on covering the whole floor or moving the mat several times an hour the leggins seem like they'd be less work.

My MIL has hardwood floors and we put large comfy blankets down when our daughter was there but it didn't matter, she never stayed put for more than 2 minutes.

We had the same problem. We went to our local carpet store and got a "rug" made of left over carpet remnants. They even bind the edges for you. It is better than a rug because it is actually carpet and it looks nice great because we could pick a color that went with the decor of our house. Hope this help :).

Dane, I just went online and found a product at Home Depot called Carpet Tiles. They're 12x12 squares with non-slip backing that fit together. They come in many different colors and you can adjust the size to your specifications. I've also seen this kind of thing at Target. Check it out.

You may want to try Ikea :). Ikea has wonderful home accessories and childrens stuff for cheap! I care for my nephews on a daily basis ages 5 and 7 and I have found lots of great stuff for them there without spending an arm and a leg.
