We're looking for the best parks /playgrounds in the western suburbs to visit this summer. We've visited most of the parks in Batavia and Geneva and some in St. Charles but want to expand our adventures. Tell me about your favorite parks/playgrounds and what makes them special and fun for your kids! I have e VERY active girls who love to climb, do monkey bars, etc.

Here are some of our faves.....

Mt. St. Mary's park in St. Charles (huge 2 story slide, next to river, path)
Engstrom Family Park in Batavia (big space net rope climbing tower, walking/riding path)
Dryden Park in Geneva(lots of shade, tennis courts, picnic area)
Western Ave. School Park ( great play equipment, not crowded, rubber play surface, very close to Dryden Park ... This is a school park, so go on a weekend or during school holidays)

Thanks for your suggestions!
L.

I don't know if you would like Glenview Area, but we recently found a park that has 3 parks to play on and the kids can't get enough of it, it also has basketball court and a picnic area. Palatine Road turns into willow Road. You would make a right off of Willow Road onto Greenwood Road. The Name of the park is Willow Park.

Deicke park in Huntley. It is seriously the best park I have ever been too! I am in Bartlett and it took me about 35 minutes to get too, but we stayed ALL day. We packed a lunch and my 2 and 4 year olds were perfectly content and entertained for 4 hrs. There is a great sand box, a kids sized basketball court, play houses, and of course an abundance of slides, swings, etc. it is also gated so it is much safer then most parks. The bathrooms are very close and clean. There is another park in the same complex for older kids as well. We found it at the end of last summer so we did not get to go very much, but we plan to make it a weekly thing this summer. I highly recommend this park . Have a great summer!!!

I would add my quodos to Phillips Park. Hudson park on the Fox River in Oswego is a favorite. Wwe also like the 2 playareas at Oswego Civic Center-lots of shade and right next to the water park with a snack bar available to both the swimmers and the park visitors. There is also a frisbee golf area that's free and quite well done. Have fun!!
