Hi R.,
It is totally normal for babies to lose their hair. My daughter, now 24, had a beautiful head of thick black hair at birth, by the time she was 3 months old her bum had more hair on it than her head. It was almost two years before she got enough hair to need a haircut. My granddaughter did the same thing almost to the day of when her mom started losing her hair. I remember I ran to the pedi's office in a major panic and they did everything but laugh at me. I am sure that after I left their office they had a jolly one on me. Remember, it will grow back and hopefully it will be many years before he has to worry about losing it again. When he does, you can tell him it isn't the first time he lost it but it probably won't come back the next time....lol.

As a hairdresser and mother of three I can tell you that this is completely normal. On average you lose 150 to 200 hairs a day and after baby it is so much worse. Even knowing all of this I still worried when it happened to me. It was when the kids were about two months old and lasted for several months. Just another perk of hormones. Eventually it should go back to normal and you'll see lots of little hairs that almost look like broken hair but its just the new hair growing back in. If after a few months it doesn't stop falling out tell your dr.

Good luck.

This is very normal, they lose their baby hair and then new hair grows back in. There is nothing you can do, just trim it up a little maybe :)

Good luck!
