Anyone else have this problem? I had an epidural with my son (who is turning 1 this weekend) and occasionally when I bend funny or something I get this sharp pain right where the epidual was placed. I've googled it and seen some links but I was more just wondering if im the only one or if anyone else has had this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So weird isnt it.. It doesnt really happen enough to bother me, but when it does, I always think "hmm that feels RIGHT where they stuck the epidural" but the weird thing is.. (dont know if its that weird) if you get grossed out by gorey things, stop reading. When they pulled out the epi, and she said okay, lay back. She checked me about 20 minutes later and the entire back of the bed was soaked in blood, it had stopped bleeding, but after they had pulled it out, it bled ALOT.

Yep!
I've had 2, and after several complaints to my chiropractor, and him not being able to find anything wrong...he suggested that it might be where my epi's were. (He's right.)

He said his wife has had 3, and she has the same problem.
The spot constantly feels bruised. Constantly.

I don't get sharp pains really but I will almost get a numb feeling. Its weird and it happens maybe 2xs a yr just randomly. Its like a path in the middle of my lower back. Its gotta be from that somehow but I've never asked my doc.

yep, it hurts! Lasted for years after the epidural. My OB/GYN recommended not pursuing it...because he said it would take forever to diagnose & would be expensive.

To this day, I feel he was just avoiding being involved & preventing a lawsuit directed at the anesthesiologist. :(

My daughter will be turning 12 in a few weeks and yes, my epidural spots still hurt once in a while. I had a bit of abnormal back anatomy to start with (didn't know that at the time) so they hit me 3 times at different levels of my spine. Ughhhhh! Still can't watch someone get an epidural on TV - I feel like I'll pass out if I do. My chiro said some people form scar tissue and have pain for the rest of their lives from epidurals. Given the choice of having my daughter without the epidural & having the bit of pain I have now, I'd still opt for the epidural because I'm a baby when it comes to pain. BTW, I have made my husband promise me he will never allow anyone to put a needle of any kind into my back if I'm not awake to speak for myself. I remind him of this often.

I had it with my first and worst with my second.

With the third I ended up with a spinal head ache and they had to go in and do whats called a blood patch.

Just about the most painful thing ever.

After that was done the weird ting went away.

Yes, I had a serious problem with this. I didn't know I had a hole in my heart and it caused me to gain an enormous amount of weight. So the anesthesiologist thought she was just going to stick a needle into a blob of jello. She must have poked me 25 times to get the needle in, then asks me "do you work out?" !!! It made a lot of scar tissue.
I had a chiropractor do a myofascial release on the scar tissue that helped alot. Then I did a tremendous amount of core work. It took a couple of years to get rid of the pain. I hope yours is not that bad.

Yes, I have this too. It's been 7 years. I have a bad back anyways, but my mother( who is a nurse ) tells me its from scar tissue from the injection spot.

I had this but it didn't last a whole year. It lasted about 3 months. It should go away eventually.
