Our first anniversary is 5-5....I want to give him something personal and a keepsake...but I have no idea what to give a man....he doesn't wear jewelry..or tie clips...

I have found a framed picture that has the caption "I'd marry you again"....but I wanted to add something to it.

So, Knowing that there's a lot of creative readers out there, I thought I ask for suggestions.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I read everyone's suggestions....thank YOU! I almost bought a clock....I would have bought him NASCAR tickets...but his work schedule is so unpredictable I was afraid of making a purchase and then being unable to use them....
Today, I got a magazine in the mail...for EASTON PRESS...they sell leather books...and I found my idea! I purchased a leather Rembrandt family bible. It may not be as exciting as NASCAR...but it will be a sentimental reminder and something we can pass on to our child.

You may not be interested in this, but......my husband and I have given traditional gifts to each other. The first year is paper. We each wrote a long letter to the other. It's something we will keep and frame forever.

How about an anniversary clock? A little old-fashioned, but sweet. We wind ours every year on our anniversary (it has to be wound 1 time a year). Something for both of you and a way to build a tradition.

I've learned throughout the years, that in general, men love food (usually steak) and sex. They don't care for cards and most are not very sentimental. They like whatever makes us happy ( as it should be). I'd take a wallet size, seductive picture of yourself and put it in a coupon/wish book that contains IOU's ( a message, a lap dance, a dinner date for 2 etc...) next to a nice steak dinner. You can buy a sentimental knick-knack ( jewelry, clock, tie clasp etc...) to keep as something that reminds you of your anniversary when you see it as well. Good luck and strike a pose!!!

My husband and I got married on his birthday, so I make it a point to celebrate his birthday while he's focusing on the anniversary part. To add a couples theme to his birthday, I reserved Bath Junkie and hosted a party there. I had friends an family over for dinner and then had a limousine drive us to our destination. We got there and listened to our own CDs and ate and drank our own desserts. (I provided for the guests.) The cost is minimal. You reserve and guarantee a certain number. They pay for whatever they want to take home. If you're unfamiliar with the Bath Junkie experience--you go in and choose from many scents (essential oils), combined or individual. Once you've settled on your own signature scent, they incorporate it into bath products--scrub, lotion, wash, perfume, cream, etc. They've got other bath products, too, including candles. To spice it up, our theme was geared toward couples, that each person would create a scent for his/her partner. My husband and I settled on a scent that we could use together in the bath. It's all reasonably priced; it's easy to spend a bundle in there, but you don't have to. They do parties on Saturdays for two hours after they close, so it's only your party there. As I mentioned, you can bring your own refreshments and music (they provide CD player). Check out their website: bathjunkie.com. You'd be surprised at how many of the men still talk about that experience!

Happy anniversary!

Since the first anniversary is the "Paper" one, are you any good at writing poetry? If not, the frame sounds fine with a pretty pic of you.

Go to Glamour shots (if they're still in operation) and get a couple of photos of yourself. Or ... set him for a man spa day. Or... if he likes sports, really good seats. A momento though... Write a letter to him telling him your feelings from the moment you married him through the first anniversary date.

For our first anniversary I gave my husband a tree. I know that sounds weird, but I put a card with it that said "we can now watch our love grow together".

I was at The Woodlands Art Show this weekend and I saw some creative stuff...one guy did cartoon art of pets. I asked him if he did people too and he said yes he just charged a little extra. It was amusing to look at. Probably make a memorable-type gift.

Hi there, A..
My husband does not really like gifts, but I think he was happy to receive this from me this year: tickets to Kris Kristoferson. If there's a musician your husband likes, maybe you can get two tickets and go out with him on a date! As far as a keepsake -a framed photo of the three of you would be nice. Lots of luck! D.
