Ok, so I am planning my wedding, we all know that Rachel D is happily walking down tomorrow, so in the spirit of things, what are funny stories that have happened at your wedding or weddings you have been to? No disaster stories, funny memories that just make you laugh thinking about it.

At my sister's wedding she and her new hubby agreed that they were not going to smash cake in eachother's faces ... poor groomsman that was standing next to them -- HE got it in the face from BOTH of them!! Not planned just a moment of great opportunity! Some of everyone's fav photos of that day.

So, what is your funny wedding story?

What can I do next?

Jenny C. How did two people with such Classicly American sur names get together? I may have gotten confused too! No, you did not just make up the term Officiant ;)
Cheryl O. My man (best man) and the other groomsmen had an "escape plan" for the first of the group's wedding ... However even if they wanted to execute it they were all too drunk and swaying to try!
AmyP. EWWWWWWWWWWWwww ... my man WILL NOT be reading this or hearing that one! He is the sort to do just that.

Hi K.-

When I got married, we had the photographer come to my parents home before the wedding to take some family pics ...mom helping with veil...me and my to brothers...etc. When my dad came downstairs in a nervous rush 'ready' to get in a 'daddy and me pic', I looked and discovered he had forgotten to SHAVE!!! This from a former military man who NEVER missed a shave was a HOOT!!

Then, the limo came to pic me up...and the AC was broken! It was 18 July, and I was wearing my mom's gown (she had had a november wedding...so picture long sleeved heavy silk taffeta!!) I thought I would melt...or my veil would blow away!!

Then...as our catholic wedding mass began at 11:30 AM...about the time of the vows...the NOON whistle started to blow!! lol The video of my mom during the service as the whistle was blowing is a HOOT! She kept looking at my dad as if to say, 'Jim...DO something'!! Too funny!

Wishing you a GREAT day...and know, that even when things go not exactly as planned...they can and DO become favorite memories!!

Best Luck!

We got married at the Star Trek the Experience, in Vegas, which was awesome. We even got my parents and aunt to wear star trek costumes, even though my Grandma was afraid of the Klingon. I'll never forget her calling her husband later and telling him that we had a monster at our wedding. hee hee.

Before the wedding, we were having breakfast at our hotel and my aunt was making up what the wedding was going to be like, with a big speech about "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to boldly go where no man has gone before...."

And afterwards we got a speech from a different Klingon than the one at our wedding, while we were having lunch at Quark's, which included jokes about how we were married for 1/2 an hour, much longer than most Vegas weddings. :-)

It was a super fun day, involving 2 of my favorite things, my family and Star Trek.

I was standing next to the dance floor talking to a guest and my friend Amber grabbed me by the waist and tried to turn me around yelling it's time to dance. Well, I got caught on my dress and as I was turning around, I went down, hard. I hit the floor on all fours and my dress was over my head. I laughed, she cried. She thought she ruined my wedding. We weren't allowed to talk about it with her for over 4 years because she was so upset. Meanwhile, I was hoping someone had it on camera so I could win my $10,000 from America's Funniest Home Videos.

Shortly after that, we were dancing and my friend Jessica told me she was going to show me how they do it "Miami Style" and she proceeded to do this shaking thing, well she shook too much and her boob popped out of her dress.

We had adog run thru or reception. Apparently someone was getting picked that worked at the resturaunt and the dog took off running. It came thru the dance floor and to the bar. He was really cute and was literally in and out but we stopped to pet him and I gave him a big hug.

I REALLY wanted our dogs there but that would have been impossible. I did have a HUGE Boxer card box that was made by one of my bridesmaids and a dog sleeping in a gazebo (we were married in a gazebo) as my cake topper so that dog "stopping by" was just perfect.

The officiant (did I just make up that word?) was done with her service and was about to proclaim us Mr. and Mrs. Smith and have everyone clap. But then made a flub and pronounced us Mr. and Mrs. Jones; MY maiden surname. We both held hands and cracked up as we walked back up the aisle.

First off - many happy years to you and your your man!!

Rachel and Rob will ROCK THE WORLD!!! :)

When I got married to Bob (my second and current - last!) husband, my parents walked me down the isle...no apprehension like there was when I married Ian...any way - my dad is about to hand me over to Bob and he kinda pulls me back and tells Bob he will hold on to me so that Bob can run and jump over the wall (we got married outside at the Crowne Plaza in Worcester, MA in the Fall)....everyone heard him and laughed...

One of the pictures that we took was with me & all the bridesmaids with our hands on each others butts. This picture was taken outside in a hotel courtyard. There was a fire fighters convention going on at the same time. We had quite an audience..and than a line formed of firemen wanting to know which bridesmaids were single... It was fun to be watched by firemen instead of us being the ones watching them!

I had told my husband that under NO circumstances was he to smash cake in my face. I even went so far to threaten that I would not be consummating the marriage that night if it did happen! So, we both placed very dainty pieces of cake in each other's mouths for the photo op, no frosting on the face at all. Then, the photographer says to kiss each other for a photo. That SOB squeezes chewed cake between his lips and into my mouth when he kisses me! I was pretty pissed off when it happened, but laughed about it later! So he still "got me" with the cake!

I had a destination wedding; therefore before I got married I was on the beach playing volleyball with a couple of people. There was this young boy playing and I told him that I was getting married in this spot where we are playing volleyball. He said no way. I told him well I'm about to go change and I will be back. The wedding planner had set the beach up and then when I came out to the music. I walked right passed the young boy and he said, "Wow you clean up very well", I had a good laugh and kept walking. I heard him telling every one on the beach that he played volleyball with me earlier. He couldn't believe I was the same woman.

Mine was nothing exciting I suppose. All I can really remember was my mom telling me I was doing everything wrong.

I am really hoping this go around will be better. My biggest fear is one of us will start laughing during the service and then the other joins in while all our friends and family accept we really are nuts. I think we have removed everything laugh worthy from our vows like "respect his/her personhood" who talks like that? :p
