Howdy All,

My kitchen grout is filthy and I was wondering if anyone knows of a product that cleans grout? I don't need a service, but would rather do it myself.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Deborah

Hi Dequa! We have an old house so I know dirty grout! lol
I use Soft Scrub w/ bleach and a brush. Then you could redo the grout as well if that doesn't work...

Magic erasers! I love those things. There's a brand that's cheaper than the Mr. clean ones. I just can't remember the name of it. If that doesn't work, I would try a strong bleach solution. Good luck!

I'm all for natural cleaners. (as well as cheap) Try this website: http://www.eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_solutions.htm

If anything, do a google search for natural grout cleaners. You'll get all kinds of information on what to use, harmful or not. Most of these cleaners are probably already in your house, and if not... pretty easy to get. Not to mention that they won't poison the Earth or your house. :)

Goddess Bless you and yours,

I used the scrubbing bubbles in the green can. I just sprayed it on and let it sit for like 10 min. or so, then I took one of those scrubbing brushes and it worked real well. My mother-in-law, was so excited to see her floor, she said it looked like it did when she had it put down. The clorox bleach pen is expensive if you use it on a large surface. I really recomend scrubbing bubbles. I hope this helps.

Hi Deborah,

I would try the Mr. Clean magic eraser. It comes in a sponge and a mop and works miracles! Hope it works.

I was going to recommend the Clorox bleach pen also. And next time I clean mine, I'm going to try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It seems to work on everything else!

I have found the most amazing product Easy Off Bam Toilet Cleaner. I saw on TV that you can use it on other things, never crossed my mind before. So I used it on my shower and it cleaned the grout wonderfully.

Hi, I cleaned my kitchen grout sometime last year using the Clorox bleach pen. I squeezed the bleach onto the grout, let it sit a few minutes, then cleaned it up with a toothbrush. Afterwards, I mopped it up with clean water. That did a good job of cleaning it up but it was hard work because you are on your knees scrubbing a lot and very time consuming. It's been a year since I did that and it now needs to be cleaned again. I am also looking for a faster and easier way of cleaning my kitchen grout.

The other products mentioned will work but for me I would only recommend Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. That thing takes permanent marker off furniture and walls. It takes grout and makes it white again.

Good luck,

Try using hot water and vinager, my husband lays tile and that is what he tells the customers to do when it starts to look dirty and dingy.

There is no secret. Use Ajax, water and just a little bit of clorox. It whitens your grout great! Make sure to wear gloves.

Hi Dequa,

I also prefer more natural products in my home. No bleach or ammonia here...and those magic erasers may clean well, but they have caused chemical burns before. We prefer to use products that are safer for our kids so we only shop at Melaleuca for EcoSense products to clean our home. They have an amazing product called Sol-u-Mel that cleans permanent marker from walls and wood and table cloths, it is fabulous. I used it on my grout on my floor after my 3yo son spent some time under the dining room table being an artist (crayon everywhere). I sprayed it and used a toothbrush and it came right up.

You can check out all their products at www.SaferForYourHome.com If you decide you want to shop from them you have to be refered from an exisiting customer, so just PM me and I can get you the info. They have five different product lines, I shop from all of them - they are great.

Hope that helps!

I use oven cleaner, spray it on the grout and leave it for like 5 minutes then take a rag and wipe it off. Be careful though because oven cleaner has a very strong smell. I hope this helps.

Home Depot's ZEP Grout Cleaner/whitener. $5 for a quart. (not for dark grout. Squirt it on, let it sit, agitate (I use a $1 store cotton mop) rinse 1-2 times. Works like nothing I have ever used before! So much so, I don't even bother to seal the grout as it is just easier just to clean it!

Deborah,

If you've ever watched an Atlanta Braves baseball home game you may have seen a grout cleaner called Finazzle they often advertise on the wall behind home plate. You can order it online at http://finazzle.com/products.html.

I did a quick search to see what folks are saying about Finazzle and found this:

"Where can I buy Finazzle Grout Cleaner. Out of evrything I've tried, this is the only product that really does the job. It's like a miricle. I just can't remember where I got it and now I have a clean half of a kitchen floor (which has been dirty for about 15 years and half still dirty. Help!!"

There was a reply saying it is available at Home Depot.

Dequa: I'm so sorry no one has responded to your grout question; I was hoping to find out myself!! I have seen a vehicle driving around the Cypress area with an ad for "The Grout Lady". Maybe if you research the name on the Internet, you'll find her info? Good luck!
