I am very new to the area and was wondering if anyone knew of a dentist that took Tri-Care for the insureance, and that is also a very family friendly place.

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

If you are looking for a pediatric dentist, I HIGHLY recommend Pediatric Dental Specialists off Fury's Ferry Road. I take my kids to Dr. John Spratling there. He is fabulous and they definitely take Tricare!!!! As far as an adult dentist, I have yet to find one. I am still on the hunt, so when I do, I will let you know. You can go to the Tricare Dental website at http://www.ucci.com (United Concordia's website, click on Tricare Dental Plan)and put in your zip code and it will give you a full list.

Blessings,

T. Ashe

I use Evans family dental , they take tri care , and for the kids we use Center for pediatric dentistry Dr Baker . Both are excellent. What I love about Dr Baker is that he uses a conservative approach to everything , if it dosent need to be done he wont do it. IE. my son fell into the coffee table and knock one of his front teeth close to out and we took him in to a different dentist and we were told he would need a root canal etc for it to stay in and the next day we took him to Dr baker, our regular dentist and he didnt want to do anything to it that we should wait and see what happen and his tooth tightened back up and he didnt loose it. the staff is very able to deal with small children.

Hey, I have had some trouble with alot of dentist.I tried that Small Smiles and the first time there they told me that you arent allowed in the back with your kids and they wanted me to sign a form that allowed them to be able to strap down or sedate my child if he became scared and tough to deal with.Of course I told her she was crazy and after that first visit I never went back. Then I tried another (cant think of the name right now but it's right near target and all that.Seemed really good at first...until on the first visit the doctor had my son sit in my lap and lay back and thats how he brushed his teeth, then after 5 mins of looking he told me my son would need all caps on the bottom of his teeth. After talking to my ped I learned that my son didnt need anything at all and that the dentist does that b/c medicaid pays a fortune for caps. Then I was told my my family and my husbands that they had also been to him and that all of the kids have caps from him.My son ped told me to never go back and to not speak to them. Then I found this pediatric dental specialist right across from doctors hospital...doctor spratling and they are fantastic! Not only are they very nice and gentle but they offer video gams and toys while you wait in the back for ur dentist and the kids get to pick a few toys on the way out.I recommend that one to you.I dont know if they take tri-care but here is their number if u want to give them a call, just avoid the other 2.###-###-####.

Btw I remembered the name of the doctor that tried to put caps on my kids teeth to try and gain money from my childs insurance...his name was Gary Katcoff on wheeler road...he's the worst dentist ever!

I don't know if my dentist takes tri-care, but you could call and check. I do know that he is the most reasonable dentist in the area and doesn't do unnecessary work just to make money as my last dentist did. Dr. John Butler on West Ave in North Augusta. He started his practice as a Christian ministry to provide good quality work for as economical as possible. All the work he has done on my family was been excellent. He does his own hygenist work and his wife (who is a PA)handles the front desk and some of the lab work. They are great people
