How do I tell my husband that he has bad breath without making him feel bad or self conscious from now on? I'm starting to wonder if its his teeth or some other health matter. He is actually in really good health but you never know if something is going on inside your body right? I remind him to brush his teeth every night as I'm brushing mine before we go to bed & also in case we decide to get friendly. Here lately though, its pretty strong despite brushing. I don't want to hurt his feelings but I don't want stinky kisses either. I find myself avoiding physical moments with him because I don't want him breathing on me. I'm at my wits end & can't imagine going the rest of our lives without saying something that won't hurt his feelings. What would you do?

What can I do next?

My ex when we met had bad breath too. He always chewed on mints but in a couple years after we were married the breath was bad even when his mouth was closed. I just happen to be getting my teeth cleaned and told the dentist so when he had his teeth cleaned they found he had a bad gum disease. He had to have his gum craped and then after that has deep cleaning when they are done. So it can be contagious. G. W

Ok, I'm not sure how you want to approach it with him but have you tried the tongue scraper? I think it has magical powers! You can get these in the toothbrush isle and you just stick them in your mouth as far as you can without gagging (about to the big taste buds in the back) and slide them forward. Get one for everyone in the family! At first you will be grossed out by what was on your tonge but then you will be glad it is off! It helps a ton even after garlic bread etc! I tell my hubby what needs freshening and tell him then we can get fresh more often! He always chews gum at bed time and usually showers--it's to his benefit! For that matter, I like to shower around bedtime as well. It would be a tragedy to waste precious years for breath!!!

Just tell him. He would rather hear it from his loving wife than anyone else.

i think most women have aversions to smells especially when it comes to love making. It a huge turn off for me and i think that is really common. my husband knows that i won't make love to him unless he scopes. He usually takes a shower too. he also knows i won't go near him if he eats banana peppers or garlic bread. so he just makes a choice between lovin and food. Sometimes he picks one sometimes the other. just sit him down and tell him that it really bothers you and that it is a big turn off. my husband also carries around a pack of gum and throws a piece in whenever we are out in public. i tend to have bad breath too and i would hate to not be told!

Sinus problems and drainage can cause bad breath.
