I am in need of new kitchen knives. I am considering ordering from Cutco since I know a few people that love theirs. But they are expensive. Anyone have any recommendations that they love that are any cheaper? If I have to pay that much I will, I am tired of dull knives. But cheaper options would be nice? Or any reason not to order from Cutco? Thanks for any information.

What can I do next?

I have Henkels and they affer a few different lines according to budgit. I love them, but would have prefrerred cutco.

Cutco offers free sharpening, and they have a location here in texas and your dealer may pick them up for you, that is if you ever have to have them sharpened, I never have known anyone to actually get them sharpened. I one Knife from them and I use it more than my henkels.

Ha, ha, this brings back memories of the cutco sales person at my parents house many moons ago...
my mom bought a set of these knives about 20 years ago. and they still are awesome. i love these knives, i don't think she ever sharpened them, they never rusted and have really pretty handles. i'm sure they were extremely expensive, but 20 or so years later, they look and cut like new.
Just my experience. In fact I'd like a set.

I am not familiar with the Cutco knives so I can't help you there. I've got no idea how expensive they are.

However, I purchased a top of the line set from Henkels about 14 yrs ago and they are FANTASTIC. We did pay around $500+ for the set. I have never had any issue with them. I have gone back and added quality pieces to my set because I love them so much.

I had 1 knife break about a year ago. I called Henkels to ask about the replacement but I did not think they would do it since my dear hubby broke the knife while not using it the way it is intended to be used. Namely...OUR FAULT

Customer service was fantastic... I sent my broken knife to them in NY and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked.

The average $ for the knives I have are $50+ each, depending on what you get. I like the top of the line.

I believe in buying the best you can possibly afford at the time of need. I will not have to replace these knives ever, unless I just want to. Which I won't buy anything but Henkels.

Good luck.

I actually sold cutco knives for a short time when I was 18. They are they BEST! I still have the ones I bought for my demonstrations and I absolutely love them! I wish I could afford a complete set. They are the only knives I will use to chop veggies and the steak knives are awesome! The best ever. Plus they have a lifetime warranty. Definitely worth the money.

You really don't need a boutique set of knifes. Wusthof makes the Classic line that you can sharpen yourself with a few swipes of the sharpener.

You really only need a few knifes. A 8-9 inch Chef Blade, Bread knife is nice, a Santoku knife is a perfect "do all" blade. and a sharpener. In all maybe about 300-400 for all.

Hello
I have Pampered Chef knives and LOVE them! They are full tang, perfectly tapered. Keep them in great condition with a honer. This is NOT a sharpener, which removes part of the blade. It just realigns them. There are a variety of sizes and a bamboo block too. The set runs for $394.00 with a lifetime guarantee.

Bamboo Block and Knife Set — $394.00
This finely crafted set includes eight pieces of Forged Cutlery — 9" Bread, 8" Chef's, 7" Santoku, 5" Santoku, 5" Utility, 5" Boning, 31/2" Paring and 3" Petite Paring Knives — plus the Bamboo Knife Block, Forged Cutlery Honing Tool and Kitchen Shears. Save $100 when purchased as a set!

Let me know if you are interested in learning more or ordering. If you want to get some friends together for a fun evening of food, you can get the whole set for 1/2 price. I do not know anything about Cutco knives but do know that my hubby bought many "affordable" knives and hated them all. At last, he is happy! These knives are also used by proffesionals.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance!
