My baby had cradle cap when she was 2 months..I followed this routine of applying olive oil and brushing the cradle cap off...this process kept the cradle cap of for a day but it reappeared the next day..now there is some sticky liquid that comes out of her head..a lot of liquid comes out and is very itchy for her..she does not sleep through the night because of it..I have a dermatologist appointment in 2 weeks..she has ezcema on her body and face..hydrocortizone and hydrolatum is giving her temporary relief on her body and face..but I have no idea what to do on her head..i use a cap and mittens to prevent her from scratching..it very difficult to see her rub her head againt my shoulder or crib sheets and look at me helplessly as she cannot itch..anyone been through this and any suggestions for releif

What can I do next?

Do not use any oil on her head, ever. Soap her head and use a baby brush to gently scrub her head. I have also used a comb for the hard to remove cap. as for the liquid coming from it, never heard of that, have you asked her DR. about that?

Sorry, I have no suggestins except to call back to the dermatologist and see if there is any way she can get in much sooner than 2 weeks. Tell them she is very itchy and uncomfortable, and point out the fact she is just 3 mo old too, they shouldnt make her wait it out!! Hope she is feeling better soon.

My daughter had cradle cap that was a little on the yellow side. Her ped. told me to put any type of anti fungal cream on it (even vagisil!) I decided NOT to do that, but you could call your ped. and ask them what you could do. They may get you in sooner than your dermatologist and can get her feeling better sooner! Good luck!

Have you considered food allergies. Eczema can often be triggered by dairy, wheat maybe even corn. I know she may not be eating it, but if you are she could still be reacting. some peds don't give this much thought, but the combination of the two would make me ask the questions. I hope she feels better soon!
