Could It Be? - Petaluma,CA

I have irregular periods that go from 24 days to 34. The past few months they have been pretty consistent at 31 days. I was expecting my period on the 19th, but it did not come. This has happened before so I wasn't super excited. Well, as of this morning it still hasn't come so I took the Longs brand test. Normally I take the name brands so this is the first time with a generic. There was a very faint line on the results. When I got pregnant with my daughter this happened a couple days before I got a BFP, but the instructions specifically stated that you may get a faint line, but it's still a positive (although the nurse at my general practitioners office didn't know this), but these directions don't state that any where. I'm going to try and wait until Friday or Saturday to test again (we'll see how my will power is), but was wondering what you ladies think. Could it be? After 10 months of trying? Finally???
Thank you!

So What Happened?

So I couldn't wait so I made an appointment with my doctor to take a pregnancy test. I went in today at 2:45 where their test came back negative. After reviewing the date of my last period, cycle dates, etc my doctor decided to give me a blood test. The results will be in possibly tomorrow, but probably Friday (like I'm not going to take my last Longs test tomorrow morning =o)). I'll post what happens, I guess a blood test can't be wrong.

I AM OFFICALLY KNOCKED UP!!!!!! I got the call today and I am 5.5 weeks along and SO excited! Thank you for the support, you helped me through a very long day! I'm amazed that my generic Longs brand test was more sensitive then the doctors test.

UPDATE: I've miscarried so no baby in June for us.

Congratulations, Elizabeth! A "false" positive is almost impossible - so you are more than likely pregnant! I also got a faint line ... and it was definitely positive! Take another test - and make sure you do it first thing when you wake up in the morning so your urine isn't diluted by liquids you've been drinking. That's when the test is most accurate. Keep us posted!

I was using hospital grade tests (an advantage of working at a hospital) and got a faint pink line 3 days before the BFP. It sounds to me like you're preggers. Congratulations and take another test in 3-4 days to confirm.

Hi Elizabeth,
I am so sorry for your loss. I had 3 miscarriages in between my first and second child. It is not easy, no matter how far along you were, you start loving and dreaming about that baby as soon as you suspect you might be pregnant. Here are three poems that comforted me when I lost my babies. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

In Loving Memory
By Marci Hilton

Precious, tiny, sweet little one,
You’ll always be with me.
So perfect, so pure and innocent,
Just as you were meant to be.

We dreamed of you and your life,
And all that it would be.
We waited and longed for you to come,
And join our family.

We never had the chance to play,
To laugh, to rock, to wiggle,
We long to hold you, touch you now,
And listen to you giggle.

I’ll always be your mother,
He’ll always be your dad,
You’ll always be our child,
The child that we had.

Now you’re gone, but yet you’re here,
We sense you everywhere.
You are our sorrow and our joy,
There’s love in every tear.

Just know our love goes deep and strong,
We will forget you never,
The child we had, but never had,
And yet will have forever.

Forever In My Heart…

I only had you a few short weeks,
Inside of me to dwell.
I loved you more than life itself,
I know you knew that well.

Although I never felt you kick,
Or even move around,
For you I would have given my life,
To keep you safe and sound.

I remember the moment she told me,
That something was terribly wrong.
I remember at that moment,
My heart lost it’s joyful song.

I wanted to protect you,
And make everything okay.
I prayed and prayed and hoped and cried
For you both night and day.

I never thought that it would mean
I’d have to say goodbye.
That you would never have the chance
To grow, to laugh, to cry…

I wish my love had been enough
To see you safely through.
I prayed, I hoped, I wished, I cried…
Wasn’t there something I could do?

My arms are aching for you now,
But deep inside I know,
That you are in a far better place,
Your new Heavenly home.

Your precious heart stopped beating,
Your eyes to never see,
For God reached down, took your hand,
And whispered, “Come with Me.”

I know that you’re in Heaven now,
Dwelling with God above.
I know that there’s no sorrow there,
Just eternal love.

I pray that God will hold you tight
And whisper in your ear,
Just how much we love you,
My precious little dear.

Even though I miss you now,
And nights are hard to get through,
I know that there will come a day
When I will be with you.

For all the long hard nights ahead,
When I feel I can’t go on,
I’ll pray that God will comfort me
And help me to be strong.

Even though you’re not here now,
We’re never far apart,
Because you are a part of me,
You’re always in my heart.

Just Those Few Weeks
By S. Erling

For those few weeks -
I had you to myself.
And that seems too short a time
to be changed so profoundly.
In those few weeks –
I came to know you…
And love you…
You came to trust me with your life –
Oh, what a life I had planned for you!

Just those few weeks –
When I lost you,
I lost a lifetime of hopes,
plans, dreams and aspirations…
A slice of my future simply vanished
overnight

Just those few weeks –
It wasn’t enough time to convince others
how special and important you were.
How odd, a truly unique person has recently died
and no one is mourning the passing.

Just a few mere weeks –
And no “normal” person would cry
all night
over a tiny, unfinished baby,
or get depressed and withdraw
day after endless day.
No one would, so why am I?

You were just those few weeks
my little one
You darted in and out of my life
too quickly.
But it seems that’s all the time you needed
to make my life so much richer
and give me a small glimpse of eternity.
