I have never been there and haven't seen my son in a very long while. He's up for a visit but has a new job, and he and his wife only have a tiny apartment. So, anyone know a wonderful place to stay briefly (summer-not moving there yet LOL) can be a house, hotel, motel, anything and of course costs barely nothing. Thanks!! I miss my son so much, but want him to want us to come back!! Just took out a couple of my first requests. If anyone was reading this before I thought I was joking when I said no mountains.. I know they are everywhere! He can see them from his apartment. Thank you for all your help!

What can I do next?

I was going to recommend a place in charming Manitou Springs...but it's in the mountains right outside of Colorado Springs :) Last time I checked there were no beaches in Colorado! Unless they're around mountain lakes...just look for motels in Colorado Springs. It's flat. It's like any other American town. Lots of motels. It has very few clouds too. So it's not tropical, but not mountainy either. You could look up charming bed and breakfasts and stuff, but then you're talking $$. Just do a Hampton Inn or something. All summer? Look on craigslist for sublets. Also, AAA is great at suggesting things like this.

there is an awesome little beach right at the base of Norad. its got beautiful blue water, no mountains in sight might just be perfect! I know there are a ton of hotels due to the touristy things to do. As far as houses and such I am clueless.

By no mountains I would assume you mean no mountain resort. Colorado Springs is pretty much near the base of the mountains. It is GORGEOUS. Like the mountains are painted on the sky. I don't have suggestions since we stayed with family when we were there--a long time ago--but I would look up on a map where he is and then look in the vicinity for hotels. I know there is a Holiday Inn and then quite a few other hotels since Fort Carson is there.

Mama:

Colorado Springs is at the base of the Rockies. There are no "beaches" in Colorado. They have lake beaches if that is what you mean. So there will be no beach cabana.

Here's a list of hotels in C-Springs.

You can go to Manitou Springs - which is about 5 to 10 miles away. There is more there as well.

Good luck!

Since you have both the army base (Ft Carson) and the Air Force Academy, any housing won't be cheap, esp if near either of those! Check out any extended stay hotels as that might be your best option depending on the actual length of your stay. It's been way too many years since I briefly lived there - and driving thru about 20 years later, was amazed at the growth (tho I could find where the apt was and the hospital and such!)

Plenty to do even if you have to do some by yourself!

btw - you flying in there?
