You know, they've studied people going outside without jackets, with wet hair, underdressed, in the cold, etc.
In the end, colds are caused by germs and compromised immunity.

What's the temperature? Is he/she comfortable?

Being cold doesn't cause a cold. Germs cause colds.

Welcome to mamapedia!!!

Depends upon the temperature and the child! My son is 10 - it snowed and he is wearing shorts and a sweatshirt. He is NOT cold. My other son? He has on jeans, a t-shirt and a long sleeve shirt and a heavy weight jacket.

Each child is different. At 2, they cannot make these decisions themselves. And do need guidance and parental involvement. So if it's over 50 degrees and the child is NOT acting cold (shivers, blue tinged skin, etc,) I think he would be fine. If showing signs of being cold - be the parent and get the child dressed in a manner that will keep him warm but not hot.

Lack of sleep, viatmins and exposure is how colds happen. Along with entry upon exposure.

It has nothing to do with clothes. with that said, dress appropriatly.. winter at 75-80 degrees, is fine to be with out a shirt. Kids are also little heaters.

If the body has to expend energy to stay warm, it can take away some energy from fighting off germs/viruses that have entered the body. In other words, the immune system can be compromised when fighting to maintain a certain temperature.

It was 20 degrees or so here and my 3-year-old would NOT wear a coat. So, he didn't wear a coat. It won't hurt him. If he's cold, he'll put on a coat.

I, on the other hand, was freezing WITH a coat.

Colds do not happen because you get cold. They happen because when it's cold out people tend to gather indoors with the windows and doors closed. This makes it easier for germs to spread.
