My 10 year old has chronic croup we end up in the er at least every three months and it takes 2 or 3 middle of the night visits to clear it up. We have seen tons of allergists and specialist and nobody can tell us why this keeps happening. Any ideas or suggestions would really help.

does he have asthma? I suppose you would have said that if he did. How about his throat? Are his tonsils a problem?

I cannot stress the important of good nutrition. We don't seem to be getting this in our foods. This might be something you want to check out.

Ann,
Bonnie shared this with me and I thought you might enjoy reading it.

I'm writing here to share my story with you as you requested. I'll give a brief synopsis of how nutrition has helped my son with asthma. My son Spencer is now 6 years old. From the time he was a baby he would get awful croupy chest congestion with each cold thing he encountered. At five years old he was diagnosed with asthma. He was having a severe attack and was given several "breathalizer" treatments in the Dr.'s office because his blood oxygen was so low and they were working to raise it to keep him out of the hospital. I was sent home that day with steroids, a nebulizer machine, albuteral and another asthma drug that Spencer would be using on regular basis for an undetermined amount of time. Spencer told me he did not like how the medications were making him feel, his heart was racing. Fortunately for me I had been using Shaklee nutrition products myself for a while and had had incredible success with some of my own health woes. So I tried an aggressive nutritional approach with Spencer's asthma. It is a year and 1/2 later and the nebulizer and all the drugs are thankfully collecting dust in my cupboard. I'm glad they are there and I would certainly use them if the necessity arises, but so far I have not touched any of it since that first day. Shaklee products do not cure his asthma. Nutrition merely places in his blood stream all the necessary constituents for his body to do the work it needs to do to keep him well. It's no magic bullet it is building his immune system so his body can do its job. Bottom line it's working. Please feel free to share this with your friend and let her know she’s welcome to call me so we can discuss this more in depth. As I researched I was impressed with the science behind the products that Shaklee produces, most of all I am impressed with the results these products produce!
Hope this is helpful,
Bonnie

I would be willing to work with you and your child. I am a wellness coach and love helping people. I have seen things change around drastically when the body gets the nutrients it needs.

i agree about diet. it could be something as simple as an intolerance to dairy. it's common that children will get colds/coughs and have one constantly. my son has a milk/dairy intolerance that does not show up on allergy tests. but i know he doesn't tolerate it because he gets acidic diarrhea if he has too much milk. so i don't give him cow's milk. i'd try doing something with his diet. maybe try cutting out dairy for a few weeks and see if it helps. that includes milk, cheese, yogurts.

I can't really help with ideas about the croup, but, ER visits are so horrible. Can they give you some ideas or ways to treat at home so you don't have to run to the ER?

Croup is not always and allergy but sometimes and "intolerance" to a food. If the body can't break down the food in the large intesting it will create bile in the liver and that pulls all the energy from the lungs causing problems like croup and/or asthma. It could be something as simple as taking wheat, gluten, or dairy (or all 3) out of the diet. Dr. Wangen is a naturopath at the IBS treatment center in Seattle. He looks at a patient from the point of how the bowels are processing the food and why the body is reacting the way it does.

My daughter was four and I had been through croup and full blown asthma with her ... specialist, allergists, nebulizer, albuterol, steroids, and thousands of dollars. Only to find out she had a wheat intolerance and it cleared up in one month of being on a no gluten, wheat, and dairy diet. After a year we were able to introduce small amounts of dairy with no reaction and she has never gotten sick since we took her off wheat almost 6 years ago.

Good Luck!

My daughter also used to have croup every time she would get a cold. It's very scary and frustrating to not be able to give them relief. However, I did find a product that has helped tremendously. I so appreciate how it has benefited our entire family that I now distribute it. I would love to share more details with you on what's happened for us and how you use it. Give me a call at ###-###-####.

Hope I can help.
